Title: Music for C&C
Post by: gameboy on Sun 15/10/2006 17:00:14
Here's an mp3 track I just made. Um, possibly for a game I might start to work on in the future... But that's just an idea.

Anyways, I would like to hear your comments and ways to improve it. :)

Nice music!  Although for the beginning you could
add more instruments... Like some strings or somthing
to make it feel less empty...
But I enjoyed the music entirely all the same.

Seems like you could bring in the whole band a little earlier in the beginning, like after a 4 bar/8 bar phrase.

You should mix this, too. Right now everythings pretty much in the center and without things like reverb, etc.

Nice drumbeat, by the way. :)

Nice song.
I like the disco feel it has to it. But I agree that the first bassline plays alone for a littel too long...

I think that Geoffkhan has nailed it in the head. The mixing needs a little more work.

The thing is that I don't know what plug-ins and effects you have, other wise I would recomend fixing the drums as well (the sounds, not the beat). A little compression and some reverb should do the trick. (maybe a tad of EQ on the high also...)

now on the music itself, it is a very catchy little song, which in my opinion could use a little variation on the harmonic progression.

You have 4 chords which you follow from begining to end. And while yo utry your best to do variation, start, stop the drums, play with different instruments, you are not changing the most important thing: the chords.

Something in the middle could be really refreshing. :)

But I could be thinking too much like a musician and not as a gmaer. Maybe in games you need less variation so as not to distract the player from the game itself... Dunno... (Anyone care to comment on that?)

Thanks for the helpful replies!
Well, I'd better do some mixing and shorten the bassline in the beginning.
Also, I agree with you Nik, the four chords during the whole sound may get a bit boring. I'll try to come up with something.
Thanks again. :)
