Title: Music game. Suggestions on art?
Post by: Nikolas on Sun 31/01/2021 06:44:50
Hi,

I'm stumped on how to make this work. To explain, in very simply terms.

The game is about listening a small audio snippet, and then choosing the right music score. Simple really, but art wise I'm confused.

The one problem to keep in mind is that there will be around 2,000 scores (the yellow-ish, roundish images, which will be properly placed) in the end, so I can only do certain edits in these, as I'm batch editing them (I can't just go in, edit and save one by one). So, yes, I can create the round corners, the shadow, and the paper-y texture, but not much else.

So... ignoring anything else that should be in the screen (lives, points, perhaps a timer, pause and play buttons) WHY ON EARTH am I not happy with what I'm seeing?

Tone down the scores?

Find a new BG image (it's a close up of a piano keyboard, btw.)?

Something else?

Feel free to edit and suggest and play around...

Thanks

Hi!

Maybe if you use hard shadows for the lockers instead of soft shadows, it will give you more separation from the background, which is already blurred.

Perhaps adding more backgrounds? Changing the background when the player has completed a certain amount of tasks may make the player feel the progress better.
