Title: My new character - opinions welcome
Post by: Albert Cuandero on Sat 28/08/2004 23:43:22
This is Sunny, she is (or rather will be) the main character for my first game. I was just curious what you guys think of her...

ADDED:

Thanks for the feedback!

You are right about the hand (I hate drawing fingers indeed): here comes a new version:

interesting character but she seems to be standing on her toes on right image. and has her hands(fingers) straight as in karate. likes shes gonna hit someone :) try to bend her fingers a bit. but overall she is likable.

regards.

Her boots and top of her skirt seem a fair bit higher in the 3/4side view.

OK here is the update. I know there are still some inconsistencies - but I decidd to go on to the animaitons and fix them all in one go later on:

Shading, details to be fixed later on (besides I used up enough webspace today  :))

I actually like the little shrug she's doing now... I think I will leave it

I used Photoshop 7 from Adobe. It's my only choice for anything I do in arts.

I drew the sketch by hand, scanned it, then added color and details at 1800x540 and scaled it down to 240 x 60-70, then did the pixelwork.

*her hands do have some muscles in left(normal, up and down) and right(normal, up and down) fix that
*when you see her leftup, up and rightup, the bag suddenly changes, i may be wrong but fix that(may be because of the shading)
*when she looks left(up and down) and right(up and down) she raises her shoulders, fix that
*left, up and right, her hairs gets really shine, fix that

also please but more time between the view so i can get a better look

I think you'd be better off fixing the inconsistencies before doing any animation! Having to copy changes through a lot of animation frames is going to be very tedious.

For me the most glaring issues are in the front view - the knees are too low, her stomach seems to have been blurred, and she looks quite bow-legged.

In the side view, her face looks a bit long and flat, and her toes are curled up oddly.

Overall, I like!

Just a few inconsistencies:
1. In the view where she faces the viewer her backpack seems to be pulling her blouse slightly back in other angles this is not the case.
2. In the view there she faces away the top of her head seems too flat compared with other views.
3. Her belly button appears in the two 3/4 angles but is not visible in the front facing view.

Also the faces in the side views need more definition they are too flat.
Otherwise they are good . It is apparent you've worked on them alot.
