I got inspired by a game for the n64 called Rocket- Robot on Wheels and I decided to do a sprite like it. It's not a direct copy. Here it is:

What do you think? I think I got the shading a little wrong, but its fixable with some work.

The head lacks... appeal. The round head doesn't work at all with the sharp-edged body. I tried a very quick paintover:

I agree with Krysis about the head not matching the body... perhaps something a bit more stereotypically "robot" would fit better.
The body itself looks a bit flat... try to think about the edges and corners that would be present if this was a real object.  I think arms would help as well.

I like his wheel legs and happy smile, though... cute ^_^

Wow, nice paintover. Although it was important that the little grey thing on the side of his head stay, because having no arms was the reason for it. It was going to function as a grappling beam, freeze ray, flame ray, light ray, and basically just a regular beam to pick things up. No offence, Krysis, it is a nice paintover, but I need to keep the body as it is. Maybe I could get tips for the head instead?

Mash: Thanks. I like Krysis' paintover alot, but the way it's designed clashes with my game design. Having no arms means relying on a beam (that gray thing on the side of his head).

EDIT: Actually Krysis, I can use your sprite. I thought about it for a bit, but yours is way better anyway. Thanks alot for the paintover.

I'd like to see this concept further developed than just that one paintover...

what do you mean? do you want me to make a walk cycle or some animations of the grappling beam?
