Be fair, Escape From New York was made on a beer budget as well..And aren't you forgetting Bruce Campbell's cameo in EFLA?  That alone was worth watching the movie for ;>.  The only problems I had with the film, ultimately, was that it was essentially a rehash of the original, and that absolutely terrible cgi helicopter sequence.  They should have cut that out of the film entirely, it looked like a first year art student job.
