well, here's a character I drew. I'm quite proud she actually looks like a woman walking. Maybe I do have some drawing skillsÃ,  ;D

This is a 17 year old girl, a supporting character in my upcoming game "The Cookie Quest" (laugh all you want, it's gonna be sweet!). She's called Barbara and the brother sister of that little guy I posted a while ago.

I'm having some difficulty getting the front view right. This is what I've come up with:

I.E.: these sprites are modified, the replies were for the previous version. See my post below.

grtz,
Stefan.

Scorpio_Phoenix

IMO her top half looks way 2 big compared 2 the bottom half. Either make the top half smaller or her legs longer.
Other than that she looks good....

Becky

Women are generally either hourglass or pear shaped, and she should have wider hips to create a female figure.

DonB

Generally, the girl doesn't look bad, but there are some things to be improved,

Im too lazy for a paintover right now, but show her the ponytail at the frontview behind her ear and let it fall from one side.. if the frontview walk, make her ponytail be from left to right behind her ears.

good luck!

Myeh? Ey? What? :P

The shading on her stomach looks odd. In the front view it makes the stomach look like it's sticking out, while in the side view it's flat

The pics aren't showing up for me, for some reason. I went to http://www.freewebs.com/stefanzomers/ and the pics of Barbara don't show for me there either.  :-\

Well, I have a rather negative look at this sprite. It doesn't really look like a female...

This needs improvement (I haven't seen her brother, so if this comment doesn't need):
- make the face look more feminine. (her nose is VERY big for a female)
- improve the skirt on the front view. it looks weird.
- raise the butt about 4 pixels.
- make the legs look like legs and like sticks which become smaller when they approach the feet.

Try stuying some other sprites of females to see how their body is build. I'll try making you a paintover when I have time.

Thanks for the replies everybody! It's definitely improving. Tried to incorporate most suggestions:

I've made the body 1 pixel shorter, increased legs by 2 pixels.
Also added a belt (which makes the skirt look longer).

I forgot to mention she's not supposed to look like a supermodel.

Thanks for the remark about the nose. I knew there was something not right about the face but I just couldn't figure it out.

What do you mean with "make the legs look like legs and like sticks"?

pslim: This might have something to do with Freewebs. Sometimes my avatar and banner don't load either

Just a few suggestions for you Stefan.  First of all I would add just a little bit of movement in her skirt.  You've got her legs movement looking pretty good but just a few pixels changed in the skirt I think would really help.  The next thing to adress is the weird arm movement.  In one of the frames her arm goes completely straight when in every other frame it is bent at the elbow as it should be.  Put a bend in her arm in that one frame and you'll have a decent walkcycle.  That frame looks funny anyway because her upper arm has an unusual bend in it.

Good Luck,
Nicholas

Shane 'ProgZmax' Stevens

continuity between positions might help improve your work.  I notice that she's considerably shorter in the walk cycle than in the front view, and torso size, etc do not match.  I made this edit to give you some ideas on how keeping proportions of the character the same between views not only improves the sprite but makes it easier to work with.  The lines will show you what I mean about lining up the features, etc.

Hi!

That's a really nice style you have. I agree that the face is too rugged and I didn't like the legs. And the skirt. ^^ So I made a paintover:

I don't know if that helps but a paintover nevertheless.

Oneway

All of the above points are good in my opinion. And i'd like to add one.. A very important one if i may add.

The boobs dude!

They start of way too high, right below the throat..
It would be more realistic if they started halfway down het shoulders (like in ProgZmax's paintover) or even lower, depending on how saggy or perky you want them to be..

Good luck!
