Hello... This are some paints I´ve made for a project I have in mind. It is about a Mossad (The israeli Intelligence Service) Mission, where three men are preppaired to travel along the time and kill Hitler in the "best" moment possible (All the moments are good for killing bastards of that kind, but, If you´ve read Asimov´s Foundation series you´ll know that are times better than others in history...)
Well, the three men are deployed in one of the WWI battlefields, but a bomb wounds the military advisor of the mission. The two other decide to help Hitler to reach the power and win the next WWII for gaining an overwhelming power.
Edit: I´ll need help if this project goes on... PM me, specially programmers and arist whose art fits with mine (this goes for you Proskrito ;))
Years pass and things are going well for the Nazi regime... The two traitors have important information about history and future tecnologies to make Hitler rule the word, but... In a battle in the last struggle for defeating Moscow, a Nazi general receives a hit in his head and reminds the past, and the mission in which he MUST succed.
Help this guy in changing the history, help the Red army to change its fate and convince US to help the Allies in the War in Europe.
Please, C+C the wardrobes... which do you like? Would you do changes?
Important notice: This project shows severall nazi stuff. The main itself is an important Wehrmacht General (which doesn´t necesarilly mean he is a damn nazi). If you´re offended by this stuff make me know and I´ll see how to change the storyline, I don´t wan´t to offend nobody.
P.S. Don´t compare this stuff with Xadhoom´s art... I don´t want to be crushed by his amazing art :D
I wouldnt' be worried too much about going up against his art. He may use a little bit more colors for shading or whatever, but yours are very very good. Im very impressed. keep up the good work.

Eeer... Yeah, scummbudy... One is bottoned to the neck and the other not, I shouldn´t pretend to make it pass as two different sprites ;)
About Xadhoom... I think we can´t compete, because our style is different, but he´s making another game with nazis and I don´t want to bother him... BTW. I love his art, it´s amazing (and I must confess... an inspiration for some sprites here...)

I like them alot. Some comments:
(i) The eyecolors strike me as a bit strange. I d give them *one* of the blue colors you use or use a darker skincolor (since the iris (the colored part of the eye) is not very representative of the eye as a whole).
(ii) The characters in the darker uniforms looks flat n could use some shading.
(iii) the boots looks a bit wide at the ankles n calves.

Thanks for the comments! I´ll take a look to your advises, sure they will work for make it look better.
As for the eye, yeah, I´ll probably use a darker blue in one of the eyes, but not in both (the character is a "popeye" because of the bomb in the First world War. Notice that one the hands has a glove. He has no hand also. As Stauffemberg, a Nazi general who attempted to kill Hitler.
Farlander - I'm very impressed! I would love to help out but between my own AGS project and the 'real-world' I don't know that I'd have any free time!

Why? because if you succeeded, then in the future (where you decided to go back in time), Hitler would already have died, but in that case, you would have never had gone back to kill him, but then he'd be alive, so you'd go back to kill him, but then he'd be dead.....
It goes on like this. The only way it would work is if you went back in time to kill him, but failed and/or died. That way the future would be unchanged.
So, booya.

Another possibility is that you go back in time for another reason but kill Hitler too while you are there. That way you would still do the going back in time, because you would do it for another reason, like betting on hosre racing ;)
Anyway, as every Red Alert player knows, killing Hitler means that Stalin causes WWII instead.

You could make it even cooler by having the player-character save a prisoner, who fathers the player-character...that would just be wierd...

Yeah... it´s the tipycal paradox "if you kill your grandmother in the past...". But now the scientist say that the time travels shoul go "to the sides", not to "the back". I mean... we would create a new future, in a new dimension, not just a change in OUR past, that changes the "present"... So, you would ask ¿Why do that guys all that? they´re not going to earn nothing!But... yes, they can! Imagine one of the time travellers is a scientist and he make the humanking progress a lot... We could "go" to that advanced dimension, and share tecnology knowleadge with them. It has a lot of problems, like "So, why on hell they don´t go to the future?" Well... We will try to explain all them in the game. ;)

Oooooh, nicey nice. I can't for the love of God see how you think this is inferior to my pics...In my opinion these are better. You got way more detail into the outfits, they're clear and easy to read, AND they're even easier to animate since you used way fewer colors than me...something I have to learn, heheh. ;)

Other than that, sounds like a cool game. Guys, christ, don't get started on the whole chrono-paradox thing...it'll make your heads explode. Let's just pretend you can go back in time, alter something and return home, remembering everything but the world is changed to suit the changes. Deal? It is a game after all, not a revision of the theory of relativity (or some other better fitting science project of insurmountible advanced-ness)...just look at the good ol' Journeyman Project games. Great, great games with excellent storylines, and some pretty wonky views of timetravel. But did it work within the context of the game? Oh yes it did.
As for crits: I don't like that you are seeing the rifle straight on the SS soldier. It's not directly wrong, I just think it would look better if you turned it just a wee bit...
And I don't really like the shading and highlighting on the pants of the officer in the brown/greenish uniform. I think it would look better if you just kept it flat shaded like the rest.
And the collar on the Wehrmacht soldier needs to be raised a bit...it looks like his neck is a foot long! ;D

sure sure, they are nazis and they are in the middle of a war so consider it later on not to have everycharacter standing straight on staring at us
the pants look like they spilled some boogers on them or something. the light green splat doesn't help at all.
offending someone: don't bother with that. if someone is really offended and they feel they need to stop you from making a game about nazi germany than they have no concept of anything else beyond their own feelings and should be discounted.
time travel: flippy, you know first hand that that will happen if you go back in time and try to kill hitler? who knows what happens. there's linear time, there's multiplicity there're paradoxes there are tons of theories

has anyone said anything about the feet?? to me they don't look like they're in reallistic poses (both spread to either extreme) but they all do look very nice, maybe a little more shading all around too.
and as far as offending anyone goes, F^%k 'em, they don't ahve to download your game, and they should now that there are worse thigns on the net. like nazi porn for example.

I am having terrible troubles with the legs of ther big bad Nazi... Exersice... do a squeme legs for him, I´ll reward you!
I see that the main crits come for the boots and the shadowing. I´ll fix the shadows, but this are just squemes. I´ll will work also on getting more realistic posses. Thank you all guys for the crits... I am seeing things I´ve never imagined that were wrong!
Edit: I supposed that there were going to be no problems about the nazi stuff, because you are all smart and you know the difference between stuff for a project and fu*`ng nazi meorabilia, but I had to mention it.
P.S. I was not very happy about making a game where you must save the jews, because it´s a too serious matter even for beeing the aim of the game. Good news, in the new storyline, the jews are safe, the main problem is that the nazis are developing a nuke bomb (you must avoid it!!!)

I hope you don't mind me doing a quick edit to your sprites, but I didn't know how to explain it clearly without an example. I think you could help these characters make a stronger impact by using one color shading. Like on the gray suits, using a darker shade of gray to draw in some hints of shadow and form/contours.
I'm also looking forward to seeing what style of backgrounds you're going to be using.

Goring and Himmler seem really really nice! I think the big bad guy's arms are set too far away and may be a bit too long, but I love his expression.

emmm... its not underwear. it reminded me of a clint eastwood film, he (clint) is an army officer (i think) training a reckon group. and there was a HUGE swedish guy. the character reminded me of that guy, and he had shorts like the ones i drew.

2ma2 had some tips about how faces show personality.
The arms still looks like attached to the body to me, and about the zangief legs, N3T is right about his crotch being low, but i think you should remove the space between the crotch and the belt, rather than raising the crotch

yes, you are right, but we are talking about characters for a game, and usually you would want to emphasize the characters personality in the sprite. Think of Dr. Ubermann and Klaus kerner, Kerner could have been the genius scientific, why not? but they were drawn that way for a reason.
What i wanted to say is, tha Farlander said that he wanted strong-dumb guy, and looking at the sprite i can see that he is strong, but not that he is dumb.

Ok... Let me explain ;D
The main character is a Wehrmacht general (which does not necesarilly imply he´s a nazi) who receives a hit in his head and reminds that he is actually a Mossad agent whose mission is to time travel and kill Hitler.
But the enviroment in which he is is different to the history we know. The nazis had conquered UK and are going to conquer Moscow. That´s because the old greedy mates of the Mossad agent are helping Hitler (with historical information and technology advise). That is nice for me for two reasons:
1) That allow me to put "good" Wehrmacht characters, because in this "dimension" there will be two different and defined parts of the german Army. The wehrmacht and the SS (the F*cked nazis). For example, Rommel coud help us in some parts of the game.
2) There will be emotion because we won´t know for sure that german will finally loose the war.
The character investigates for finding clues that the jews are being killed and make the main german army (The Rommel army, the "good" guys) to join the Allies. He gets news, one bad and one good. the jews are safe. The bad one... the Nazis are developing the Nuke bomb.
Any ideas for the plot?

How 'bout this:
You play a character (the Mossad agent) who travels back in time with a mission to infiltrate the German army and get close enough to Hitler to whack the bastard. They (your bosses) have specified the date by which you must accomplish this.
When you start the game though, you're a dedicated Nazi. The reason is because, in your attempt to get close to Hitler (showing your 'false' dedication) you were taken by force and brainwashed by the SS into being a fanatically loyal Nazi. (It could be something their evil scientists were doing behind the scenes to make the armies more loyal). They didn't know you were a spy (assassin), it's just something they were experimenting with. You have no memory (yet) of the experiment being done to you.
So you start off completely loyal to Hitler and the Nazi party. Maybe even do a few parts of the game as a Nazi, doing evil things, being a sick Nazi bastard. You could even put in elements of the main character having nightmares about what he's done/doing, but he doesn't understand because he's so loyal to the Nazis. But then, in a Allied bombing raid you receive a nasty blow to the head and the brainwashing is erased ... you remember your mission now ... But the time frame is much closer and you don't have a lot of time to accomplish your mission.
Also, all the differences you described (between actual history and your story) are still there. When you come off the brainwashing you realize that the time line has been altered because you came back in time ... So in effect, you caused the differences in history. You, as loyal brainwashed Nazi accomplished things that wouldn't have happened if you hadn't traveled back in time ...
So at this point you could 'branch' the story ... either you fix the time line and not kill Hitler (because, in a moment of morality, you realize you have no right to effect history like this) or you say screw it, this is for the best, and you whack Hitler and leave the past altered and worry about it later.
The second option could lead into a really interesting sequel to the game that takes place present day, but the world is a different place because you killed Hitler ... and you're the only one who knows it ... so you once again travel back in time ... this time to stop yourself from killing Hitler ...hahaah!!

Nice ideas... That makes me avoid a complicate intro I had in mind... I´ll work on it. But I´m not very sure to play the character of a convinced nazi (even having being mind-washed...). I think the best should do him as a "good" wehrmacht soldier. I am not very happy also with the idea of the hit in the head... too casual... I´ll work on it, but I think I´ll have a project with N3t, Barcik and Scotch to finish before... Where on hell is Barcik?

I wasn't real happy with the 'hit in the head' idea either, but I thought that's what you wanted :) So perhaps think of a different way to have him remember his mission?
I thought it would be a cool thing to have the time frame in there because you could always keep track of what date it is, and the time when you have to kill Hitler is also displayed ... maybe like a count down ...

That US trooper is really nice too. Are you using photoreference for these or are you just making them up?
For these two sprites I did use photo reference, because I wanted to get the uniforms accurate. But sometimes I just like to create my own (though they don't usually look as good).
My sprite skills aren't quite up there yet.

Hmmm...I'm having some problems with the big dumb nazis and your Goebbels. The forst soldiers and officers you drew were very realistic, both in proportions and style. These latest ones kinda look like they belong more in a Larry game or something. It doesn't have to be a problem, I would just advise you to try to keep at one, distinct style. Otherwise you could have some jarring.

Yes... I am realising that as much as I draw, much cartoony the characters are. That could be a problem, but I am now realising that there is a kind of pattern... The "good ones" are proportioned and realistic. The historical characters are cartoony because there is a real face that I must try to get, but there is another reason... I want that guys to look unproportioned and "dantesque", because they were all a bunch of bastards and I can´t make them a good memorial by accurate painting them. Look at Goebbles, his shoulders are down, he´s skinny and ugly, I like that :D. So... the only problem is to draw the SS also cartoony. What do you think? Is it a good idea?

No, no... I don´t want to offense nobody with the game, that´s why I removed the jews form the storyline.
But, of course, I don´t want to offense German people. In fact, I think that including "honorable" Wehrmacht soldiers is somethink quite new. I´ve seen films (Stalingrad, Das Boot) where the human aspect of the soldiers is shown, but in many others (the major part) the german soldier is reduced to a simple "silly-killer-machine".
I want to make this clear. Nazis were all bastards. But Germany was not full of nazis (I don´t really believe that that 98,2% that nazis reached in a poll is a reliable data to have in mind...). I also believe that many years happened since that unfortunately facts and now the German nation has nothing to see with the nazi party.
BTW, please accept my apologies if I´ve offended somebody.

I personally rather like it that you draw the bad guys cartoony and draw the good guys in a more flattering style. They don't even look all that different glancing over them, but there's a subtle differance, and I think that that's a good thing.

I´ve been listening Nazi tunes this last days for the game... The first question that came to my mind were... All that webmasters are Nazis? wow!... I hope not.
BTW, yeah, there are a lot of tunes, some of they are nice military marches (Nice because I can´t understand the lyrics...) and some other nice songs like Lili Marleen. I am so much interested in 40´s years songs like Edit Piaff did now.
I am so much convinced each day that we must be open-minded and drink of all the sources we can (old music, painting art, sculpture...)

Well... Here is what I have in mind, revisited ideas:
The Mossad preppaires a mission, two people, an erudit (Scientist and history expert) and a soldier, must go to the First World War and kill Hitler.
Why? Because the time machine does not work to jump to the future... It can´t either change the History, if we kill Hitler we will create a new dimension were Hitler is dead at the end of the First War, but in our dimension all will be the same.
So... why travelling to the past if we can´t get the benefit of saving the jews?
My idea: The idea of the Mossad is to take benefit of that new dimension by sharing technology knowleadge with a world without the technology back step that the world supposed. So... If the mission goes well, we will go to another dimension in which the mankind had gone to Mars before year 2003 (as an example)
You can say... hey! Without the war, many technologies may were not be invented (For exemple, rockets, let´s suppose) My answer is... Yes! Because the wise person on the time travell will guide the scientists in the good direction.
You may think... well... If that is the idea... why don´t we go to the romans period and give them the steam machine idea? Why don´t we help them to defeat the Barbarians? The technologies advances in a world without Middle Age would be huge compared with the advances we could earn avoiding the World War... But... No! In the world I´ve imagined the time travels need a lot of energy and the "jump" can´t be so big. I like that because that leaves the main character alone in the new dimension... he won´t receive external help.
The game starts in the outskirts of a sieged Moscow. All Europe has fallen into the Nazis hands, including United Kingdom. USSR has been attacked by the Caucasus,the West, and even by the East by the japanese. A wehrmacht generall falls into a group of partisans, which give him a drug. He starts to remember... The new technologies nazi minister (whose ideas are working to win the War for the nazis) was the commander of a Mossad´s secret mission he was involved in. He recognizes a friend of the past into the partisans... the man who created the drug which is making his memory come back. He has bad news... There is no energy for new time travels. They´re blocked in that dimension. He must kill Hitler, and the man who betrayed him and erased his memory.
Spoiler: He will discover that the nazis are developing the nuke bomb... God save us!
Ps: I hope all the plot is explained now :)
The game starts in the SECOND war?
The game originally started with an intro of the WWI, when the mossad slodier is hurt by a bomb and losses his memory. That gives the traitor "free way" to act. The he recovers his memory by another bomb in the WWII.
All that plot has been revisited now. But, yes, the game starts in the Second WW. What I´m not so sure is about the First WW intro. now there´s no need for that.

That´s one of the things I like of these storyline... there will be an honourable group of German generals in the Wehrmacht... there may be surprise at the end of the War, heheee...
You know how they go to WW1 to try and kill hitler? well hitler was in a gas attack in WW1. Maybe you could use that as kind of a link?
My idea was to use that, but, with the Mossad´s killer out of game, the traitor would use the time when Hitler was in the Hospital to become a friend of him. But all the plot has revisited, and the "jump" will probably be in 1925 or something like that. Enough time to help him before the Beer Haus Coup D´Etat.
