Title: Need talking animation that doesn't suck
Post by: remixor on Wed 30/04/2003 08:30:50
Hi all.  I'm working on my Mr. Carlson sprite, and I keep trying to make a decent talking animation, just two or three frames, and no matter what I do it looks idiotic.  I hate to ask for people to do things for me, but could someone possibly try and make the other frame of animation?  I assume it wouldn't require modifying more than several pixels.  Or, if someone has a good idea for how to animate this particular sprite, that would be appreciated too.  Thanks!

I think the poblem with generic talking animations is that the lips can never synch and bad lip sync often looks 'idiotic'. Still, I tend to use a variation on these three mouth positions, but vary them so that he doesn't look like he's saying "Me Ma Mo":

(The speed isn't quite right, but never mind.)

if that doesn't work here's the link:

:o  Thanks a million, Ali!  Those are great.  I'll worry about lip-syncing later, for now I'm just using what you gave me in order.  I really appreciate it  :)

Or, just take vocals A,E,I,O

But there is the problem that in every language the vocals are spelled diffrently.
