What do you think? It's for a game I am making.

(s)he is cute, (s)he is funny, (s)he is well made, he doesn't have a penis, and she doesn't have boobs.

Sex?

but anyhow I think that it's really nice! And those detailed eyes work for me :)

It's a super-cute, console-type sprite, and I'd love to see her (it's a she, isn't she?) in a game.

Is that right arm (her right, not mine) longer than the other one? With the bend animation it's a bit hard to tell, but it looks, subtly, as if it could be shorter. But that might be just me.

My only real crit is that she'd look so much more cute with hair...

Unfortunately my worse fear happened, it is a boy... That's what I get for applying manga guidelines to pixel art. See Manga has a style of big watery eyes on young male char. He's portrayed to be about twelve. An unlikely hero. The bald head, was purposely to de-feminise him. I will have to see about altering him slightly. And the reason his hand is shorter on the right is it's resting on his hip...Classic manga postures... He's supposed to be urchin-like underfed looking. Hence the shabby clothes but does the technique seem alright?  I have reviewed some art stuff and decided to go ahead with this design, thanks for the critique, but his gender will become apparent during the story... and in the cutscenes and larger handdrawn shots...Thanks All.

Your worst fear?? Now I'll have to take a shower... Brr  ;)

It would possibly help to get rid of the loose-socks and make the wrist-bandage...thingies... look like leather. You could buff up his chest a little, too. I still like the graphics style very much, yet there are games out there with a pretty similar style that somehow manage to avoid this embarassing gender confusion. To name one, Golden Sun.

But don't let this get you down in any way, it's just one opinion, and by no means meant to sound harsh. The overall style is very good, and you should be proud of it!

This is only one costume, I'm going through the trouble of multiple costumes...

The stance, however, is definitely female. It's a "teehee!" kind of stance :P

And the frilly big socks don't really help gender clarity, no ;)

HAs anyone besides me seen Avatar? it rather reminds me of the Aang, that kind of cheery go-lucky-ness, maybe his pose could use some workmore of a solid fighting stance, right now he does look a little twinkle-toes, rather light in his shorts.

I thought it was a girl, and was surprised when Nikolas didn't see that. Now I see that what I thought was hair sticking out from the back of his head is actually pointy ears.

I've never actually tried doing things manga style, but I tried to change a few things:

Probably broke some golden rules of the manga style, but this is what I did:

Less fluffy socks.
Made head 1 pixel higher
Added nose, eyebrows and mouth
Removed eyelashes. Eyelashes may make things look cute, but go overboard and it makes them look girly.

You've got pixelling skills dude, no doubt there. These are just some suggestions.

For what it's worth, I think it makes sense for a 10 year old to be somewhat androgynous and for myself I thought it was a boy when I first saw it. A boy blushing because someone just told him that his frilly socks were cute.  ;)

Thanks all you've been great... And actually I am an Avatar Fan. I won't say Aang isn't an inspiration, but hey no glowing arrows right? Plus I added the ears which Aang doesn't have. Again thanks and if anyone likes this style talk to me at fouridragon@hotmail.com ! MSN OR YAHOO!

When she smiles that pink strip above the teeth is really making it look weird. I would relace it with white so she has a huge smile.
