Title: New room for game plx help
Post by: on Tue 29/07/2003 13:52:16
this is my new room, there isn't much in it yet but its coming. This room is birds eye perspective because I want to do a game thats like the old style rpg's (exp : zelda aLttP)

But I have  problems with lots of stuff like the red things those supposed to be pillows any suggestion how I can make them look like pillows and the blue is a window but how do I make that glass effect.

P.S. I work with photoshop but am still new at it.

the windows is not in the right perspective. just do it like you drew your door, then it would look much better.

i have some more critics: this room looks like thousands of rooms in this zelde-clone-games. its always the same. a room with a bed, a table with 4 chairs, a door and a window. if you want to create a unique game, then try a bit of individuality.

but by the way, looks nice so far

The window is out of perspective... or something. It needs to follow the lines from the wall.

Furthermore, from this perspective one wouldn't see the blue sky through the window, unless the room is floating upside-down.

The pillows dont look like pillows because it loos like your using the PS built in layer settings. Though sometimes gives you a nice effect, it can also produce crap. Try manually drawing out the pillows, and you dont have to draw 4 seperate ones, you can use the same one over and over.
Also save shading till you have everything drawn and colored in. And the able is definitly using the PS built in layer settings.

Try using RPGMaker images as a reference.

other than the perspective corrections, i'd suggest that you use textures.
also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to use a tile-based program.
