I've been toying around with sprites done at 128 tall in this style. It actually scales pretty well!

This is the type of drawing I'm most comfortable with. What do you think? A good style for making a game? (Aside from the obvious pains of animation...)
It certainly looks very professional to me - solid cartoon style that would be great to see in a game (but in color, right?)
It would be easier to give critique if you posted the scaled sprite, but as concept I think this looks cool.
Here's a quickie, example sprite thrown on a fast background. Painterly background, inked character.

It is actually quicker to do this sort of thing than to sprite for me; spriting is so meticulous, with this I can just comic-it-up.
It's great... now make a game! ;D
Yes, SIR!!
/me clicks boots together.
Yeah, I agree - it's looking great.
Gracias! I posted to the help wanted board. (http://penguinx.org/wp-content/themes/frenden/images/smilie_smile.gif)
I would love to work on a game with the penguin!!
Now I just need to finish Amulet of Kings, JP & Cosmo II, and my 2 [ top secret ] projects :)
Seriously ... I would love to see a game in this style. Even, as we spoke of in the PMs the other day, doing it in black and white would be sweet!
Rock on.
Thanks!
Black and white is definitely my first love. If I were to do a noir-style game, I'd opt for the black and white. Something cute and cuddly or DoTT? I'd opt for the color.
I know what it's like to have a hundred dangling projects. Here's to hoping you get to finish some soon!
Pretty solid rendering. If you don't mind animating these, sure, they'd make for nice adventure game graphics. You might have to play around with alpha settings a bit, though.

That's the rough I'm going to draw over (if I go for the cartoony character and not a more serious, noir tone).
