Title: Non-adventure sprites
Post by: Micek on Mon 15/08/2005 15:58:26
Please, can you critize these sprites.

Run: (http://vch.ic.cz/soubory/beh--final-podoba.gif)

Somersault:(http://vch.ic.cz/soubory/kouleni.gif)

Is body bounce realistic?
(These sprites are for small retro-platform game) ;)
Thanks for all replies.

For bounce, you want to keep one foot on the ground at all times (unless jumping).  Simulate it by compressing the torso or upper legs down one pixel.  The animation is very well done otherwise.

Personally, I would cut out about half of your frames, epsecially in the running animation. It looks more like he's pedalling the air, than actually moving forward. It also looks a bit funny the way he flicks out his feet (watch the feet carefully).

The run looks kinda odd, more like he is hopping than running, I think the feet need to be in contact with the ground a bit more, as it is he touch on the front of his foot for a second and almost flings his foot back instead of pushing with it. Ã, The roll look good too, except his head might be tucked too much (try getting in that position yourself) and maybe add a tiny push with his feet for the second roll. Ã, For some reason I am think people rolling are a bit more egg shaped than round, but I had eggs just a bit ago so it may just be on my mind still :P
