Title: Ol' Angry Teacher
Post by: HillBilly on Wed 12/05/2004 21:30:01
This is the close up of an teacher I made in paint. I've already made the talking animation, but I wanna know if there is any way to improve it before I continue. If it's perfect/have some errors that I'll correct, I will post the animation later. Thanks!

maybe the glasses on the right side be a little larger, like, add a bit to the lower part of the glasses.  but seriously, this is soo sweet.

lol, looks excellent.  Can't think of any changes... maybe a few more wrinkles in a faded colour.  Nice work.  :)

Man, I dig it big time!

It kind of reminds me of Full Throttle a little for some reason ... the thick outlines I think.

The only suggestion I would make would be to change the color of the blouse.Ã,  It blends into the chalk board too much.

Awesome style man, keep it up!

I should chage the orange tones of the skins for some other pinkies...

As for the rest, perfect IMO.

or I'd sugget a greenboard and not a blackboard

The chains on glasses are usually... oh, heck, my vocabulary is leaving me. They're on the front of the sticklike-side-bits-that-disappear-behind-your-ears rather than on the round-front-bits-that-hold-the-lenses.

At first glance, it looked to me like she was crying.

Some other suggestions:
Perhaps making her a bit paler (think Doctor Fred from DOTT) will make her look older.
Change the colour of the dress (dark grey?) or the blackboard (dark green?), or add grey outlines to her dress.

Other than that, extremely sweet work.

I decided to do something ...

Made her more pale (as Monk & Farlander suggested) and moved the hangy thingees off her glasses (also as Monk suggested).  Altered the color of the dress and the blackboard a little.

Not sure if it looks better ...

I take back what I said about the skin colour... the image looks much less vibrant now.
Good job on the glasses though!

Just a little dak in places - The character itself looks very nice.  *she's creeping me out*

i prefer the original colouring to mandarb's more skin like tones, the original picture kinda gives the impression he's going for the old 16 colour (52 or something when you use all those checker patterns of different colour type thingies) EGA palette...
one thing you might want to try do is make her look a little more female, she kinda looks a bit like mr magoo in drag...

BOYD1981: I know, when I started drawing her, I was actully drawing an old man. Then I added some small female touches. She isn't supposed to be miss 1969 you know.

Darth Mandarb and ElectricMonk: Changed! Thanks for the comment/picture, I didn't notice that. I'm still gonna keep the skin, toh.

Okay, how does she look now?

It looks great.
Your skin tones make her look more crotchety; as if she's about to explode.
My eyes are uncertain about the greenboard, though. Perhaps the light grey that Darth used?

Fine. I'll change the greenboard to a darkgreyboard. I can also experiment with the skin tones to see what fits the best.

looks good! some funny stuff going on here!
maybe make the chain jiggle a bit, add some bounce to the hair and maybe even make her "wrinkle" (rynke på nesa) her nose so that her glasses move up a bit?
right now it's three frames, right?

four. I'll see what I can do.

in my humble opinion, she needs a 'o' view for her mouth.

kinda like this  :o

ya know what i mean ... rite?

just say: ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and think about your mouth shape

err yeh

Really nice!

When she talks, her lower jaw should be moving more than the rest of her head. In fact, it should be the only thing moving in that sense and the movement of her entire head should be kind just secondary motion. But that's just a "should".

Keep it up, one of the coolest things I've seen made in MSPaint!

I did that, but it looked really stupid.

Pessi: Yes, it should. But I think it looks okay this way too.

i would make her brow move in a v shape every now and then, to get the feeling of an angry person. (during the talk view)

I really like this. I love the style-- reminds me of DOTT..

My only suggestion is to vary the thickness of the lines to show depth. For example, the wrinkle on her face shoudn't be as deep at the ends as it is in the middle.

EDIT: Like this
