Problem

I like XMs (FastTracker) for games, as they are a very good compromise between quality and filesize. I haven't done any XMs for a while, so I just did this one for practice. I think it needs some fine tunig, so I'd like to hear your opinions.
What would you change/improve?

nice to see you kept it an XM and didn't do that scummy thing of converting it to mp3 :D
i started using FT2 in 1997, don't use it so much now though, no DOS drivers for my soundcard :(
the tune sounds very oldskoolish, it reminds me a bit of Dr. Awesome's "12th Warrior"...
perhaps if more people wanted to use MOD/S3M/XM/IT in AGS games it would convince Chris to use BASS or FMOD instead of the current playback routine :P
good work.

btw, don't suppose you ever used to hang around efnet #trax or #scene under a different name did you?

Hehe, that would make no sense. Getting the same result, just 4 times as big. This is why I like trackers for making game music. I even used the good old ProTracker on the Amiga  :)

I use FT2 with Dosbox. I took some time to adjust the settings, but now it runs without problems.

No, I didn't. I don't use trackers very often today (only for games), and back then I didn't have any internet connection  ;D

I've been a LONG TIME proponent of both the .mod and .xm format (well over 10 years) so if there is a tracker program, I've used it.  My favorite was FastTracker 2(up until I got XP, which killed any hope of using it outside of DosBox, which still glitches), and now I use Skaletracker, a FULLY fasttracker 2 compliant program designed for win 32.  Do a search for it, you won't be disappointed (the interface is even the same).  Good tune, by the by.  The only thing I can think of would be to break it up into 2 or more shorter tunes that can loop (since most game music needs to loop).

even though SkaleTracker is very similar to Fasttracker2 i just can't get used to it, it'd be nice to have an exact 1:1 win32 port of FT2 (or dos drivers for the Audigy 2ZS)

I'm not sure what difficulty you are having when using it.  They even went so far as to arrange all the buttons the way fasttracker has them, and the latest beta I'm using seems relatively bug free.  You could give madtracker a try I suppose, but I wasn't impressed with that one.

Thank you :-) The whole XM is actually looped. I don't like it when looped game music is too short as it can get really annoying to hear the same short tune all the time.

I also tried SkaleTracker, but I didn't work very well for me. DosBox works fine, but I had to change a lot of the settings until it worked. Now I'm very happy with it. I think I'll do more XMs in the future.
