Outside run down apartments

this is yet another screen form my upcoming game i would like you to crit for me. its supposed to be a rundown apartment block in new york. im particularly concerned witht hegreffiti as it does not look realistic enough for me. also the pavement and the leftmost building look a bit strange.

You've got to stick to one style, pixel like art, you are using special effects that dont go with tyhe rest of the image. try and make a brick tipe to go on the walls. Add some trsh around the street and maybe some bins near the alley. Add some texture to the door.

can you explain some of the efects i have used, i can't really see any, unles you mean the graffiti. aslo, what do you mean by "make the brick tipe go to the walls"?

Hey there Zooty,

You need to add some depth and shadow. You need to show that the road is lower than the pavement. You can do that easily by adding a darker grey to that side. If ya want i can email you some examples what i'm talking about.
I really like youre graffiti but maybe you should ease up on them. Make a big one with maybe something over it.

But mainly i should concentrate on the shadows.. you'll see that it makes you picture a lot more real.

The brick lines that go down the alley, from the corner, need to all follow the same perspective line. It was the first thing I saw after the graffiti, and its kind of distracting to me. I know with such small lines, its hard to work in the perspective, but I would start by making them all angled the same, and at the top, angle it, and work your way down until it matches correctly. Nice work so far. Keep it up.
