Title: Petteri's unfinished tunes
Post by: Pet Terry on Sat 24/01/2004 19:57:12
Hello.

I have some unfinished tunes laying on my harddrive so I thought I put them here for you to listen. Maybe I could get some comments and critisism too. Midis first:

Dreaming: (http://koti.mbnet.fi/hurjat/dreaming.mid)
I just... I just made this. Nothing more. Sounds kinda cool, but kinda empty too.

Search: (http://koti.mbnet.fi/hurjat/search.mid)
This is awesome. So awesome that I couldn't think a good melody after the main melody has played for a while. The melody in the end was just something I whipped up, nothing really good. I really would like to finish this one though.

Then some mp3's:

Some sort of arcade tune I guess: (http://koti.mbnet.fi/hurjat/arcade3.mp3)
I made this after playing Urban Joe. Would probably fit in some arcade shooter game thingy...?

Future: (http://koti.mbnet.fi/hurjat/future.mp3)
This was supposed to be in a game I planned to do once. Inspired of Byzantine Demo if I'm not mistaken.

So... have a listen and tell me what you think.

I like Dreaming and Future the best.  Very ... moody?

I'm no music expert though!

The Future one ... I thought there was cop outside my window.  I had to pause the music to make sure!

Man I wish I could make music.

Good job!

Dreaming is very nice. The rest are good too, but Dreaming takes the prize! There is no reason for these tunes to stay unfinished!!

/me is reminded of the vast amount of his own unfinished tunes

I like Future the best. They're all good, though, and I hope you have time to finish them..

I've always admired you people who can make music out of a computer.
Great stuff!  ;D

I like "future". That beat is so good. The drumfillKindaThing where the drum stops for a sec and then continues at 00:27 reminds me about Britney Spears thought.

Dreaming:
Not too empty. Bit abrupt end. :)
With some added creepyness (something out of tune, or very soft strings) it could be very good background music for a horror or sf game.
For example for a scene in which the player explores an empty space ship.

Search:
Gives me a comic adventure feel. A 'wacky' tune for a scene in which the player visits a strange carnival perhaps?

Arcade:
This one I found a bit boring. Maybe for travel or map scenes in a Police Quest like game?
It has got a nice tension, but could be better.

Future:
The sirenes could distract a player. 'Do they mean something?'
It comes off a bit slow, maybe speed it up a little to give it more tension?

Overall I liked Dreaming the best. Good songs!
