Please c&c this bg for me how can i improve etc?





I think its making progress heres all the pics together... Ummm look at the updated post below.

I think it's a nice start for a background ^_^.
In terms of crit, the first thing that strikes me is that the foreground is very blurry compared to the background--maybe up the contrast to sharpen it a bit.
The transluscent line streaking across the sky seems a little strange to me.  I assume it's mist, but it seems too high and not really connected to the atmosphere of the picture (eg. if it's misty, the stars shouldn't be so visible)

I think the moon has too less detail. And you could add a bit of a background like some spooky house on the back or something.

I htink its the darker color i used mmm anyway let me repaint this sucker...

I like the colors here, and nice tree :-)

A few things:
*I think the stars would be getting dimmer towards the horizon and brighter towards the top of screen (because of the angle with which the light travels through earth's atmosphere).
* The mist partly covering the moon, I'm uncertain of this - wouldn't it look dark here (because it's blocking the moon's light)?
* The character could be darker, or tinted by the bluish light, which it's easier to set up inside AGS when setting up walkable areas.

Ok well Heres the revamp!

I did some changes




*Added mist
*Detailed moon (BTW Thanks you Relentless for a very kewl moon tutorial!)
*Changed colors on character looking way beter!
*Made everything get a blue tint :)

Yowza! Big improvement!

The best criticism I can think of, is that the tree in the background seems a bit large (maybe it's closer than I think it is though) and the top level of mist should be removed, or made smaller. Other than that it's very good!

Thats going to be difficult to include into the AGS engine wont it? Putting the fog around the legs mmm man no technical difficulties?

Actually, it wouldn't be too hard.
The walkcycle would need to be altered to have mist breaking around the characters legs, and the rest of the mist could be animated as another character, which the player would walk in front of, giving the illusion of walking through mist.

This background is definitely improving! ^_^
I think I prefer the moon without the cloud, though... the cloud seems a bit out of place style-wise.

If fog was going to be added your best bet would to add it as a semi-transparent object so that the baseline was infront of the pc.
