Hello ladies and germs...

I have been working a bit on my art and what not for my first AGS game... since I am pretty new to the scene could you please check out

http://groups.msn.com/fostoria/skytowerrescue.msnw?Page=Last And check out the one screenshot and the other straight rooms I have worked on...

Would you, but graphics value alone, say these are ok, The house one is just an experiment I actually have one that takes all my best ideas from this room, this one just shows the poster and the computer (and desk)...

Secondly... My main sprite is about 18 pixels wide and 24 pixels tall... is that too small for these size rooms? and items...

The graphics are basicly being pulled from my RM2K games and the RTP and what not... Anyway... just wondering....

The best bet is to size your people up to door frames and see how you like it.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

Maybe the door is a bit small compared to the desk with the computer?

My biggest problem is using preexisting sprites and graphics from an RPG based game editor... If I end up using the defaults everything becomes super large (a normal 320X240 room could easily be two fully stocked floors). I guess maybe I need someone to edit my sprites and make them bigger.

Actually, I guess the biggest problem is indoors, because as far as I can see, the trees and what not of the forest looks good. Unfortunately most the game will happen indoors, especially once the skytower is entered. Would possibly lowering the vanishing point for the indoor rooms give me better luck? (consider the largest character sprite being 24X32)

Also, I'm trying to learn gimp some (exercise in insanity presently) to maybe work things a bit better.

thanks for the opinions and feedback.

EDIT: Also, in the RM2K world... most things are oversized (think cutsy anime) so the desk and what not are correct for the world. The trees used in the forest are normally 32X32 pixels, I just resized them to make them a bit more realistic.

EDIT2: Actually after a bit more playing, the computer and desk is very large (the frontward desk is taller than the character. makes it more like a bookshelf... I'll have to go with making them no taller than 18 pixels at 100% zoom.

Could Anyone help a bit with GraphicsGale?

My game will be in Hi-Color mode, yet when I save any pictures in Graphics gale in 16 bit color depth AGS says it is incorrect, I even tried saving in 15bit color depth, it only seems to like it if it is saved in 256 colors...

I decided to redo the room, bringing the Vanishing point up see how much of a difference that makes.

Any ideas?

PS If you think that I should start a new thread for this let me know...

What file format are you saving in?

Saving in BMP format (what I am trying to import into the program) I have a backup in the .gal format to keep my layers (which makes me wonder how I have worked so long without layers, makes perspective drawing much easier)

EDIT: Looks like I found it... seems no matter what color depth you draw in, it saves it as a 32bit color depth... going to see how to tone it down.

Try opening the files with M$Pain, and resave them as 24bit colour, see if that works.

Alynn some tips for ye:

It looks like you use resized images because they are antialiased, in the forest picture that looks very unprofessional and odd :) no offence

And I can't resist to say that I've never been a fan of wall textures, in your computer room they make the walls very 'busy' if you know what I mean

first try to draw yourself, in time you'll get better
