Trees and Leaves

Hey guys,
I have a bit of a problem. I have done the majority of the trunks in this BG but need to fill the gaps with jungle and plants and vines. I need good suggestions or maybe point me to a good tutorial for my style to draw the jungle vegitation. Paint-overs welcome!

It seems somewhat unbelieveable that the roots and lower portions of all those trees could fit behind those small bushes. It makes the whole thing look like a stage setup.
