I got bored of messing with hamsters and decided to have a go at making a fighter sprite of some sort. I am pretty happy with the results. I am crap at anatomy so I went for a japanese super deformed sort of flava.what do you think?Im not sure about the bare feet but I didn't want to add another colour for the shoes. The skin tones are very similar to a sprite I found, I liked the colours so much I wanted to use them on a sprite of my own, I picked the blues myself :).

How about without black outlines? (Probably use a darker colour than what I used for the skin though, silly me)

His right arm looks a lot bigger and muscular than his left arm. Also, his left arm is missing a thumb. There's also something a little funny about his left leg, though I can't quite put my finger on it ... I guess it looks a little bit like the hind leg of a quadruped or something. Maybe it's just me.

Also I think his eyes need to stand out a little more, although I'm not exactly sure how. At 1x size it looks like they're closed. Maybe make them bigger or something.

thank you both.matt, the outlines on the sprite are not actually black, and I think I will keep them as they are.Eagermind, I have bulked up his left arm, changed its position and given it a thumb.I have also made the eye more visable and changed his left leg. what do people think?

this is another version with the original arm bulked up.

Another punkish sort of character. Any comments? Is this style any good or should I scrap it?

man, Im not getting many comments. Here is my first ever female sprite.Another character in this style.

Her hair is meant to be absolutlely wild, what do you think?
PLEASE, someone crit me ;D

Mikko

Your sprites are great and I think you've found a solid style, but have you tried mixing colors more?

I mean, now the whole character is always one color + skin tones and I'm not quite sure if I like it that much. Other than that, they look very good.

Buckethead

here's a paintover:

I think I totally messed up her hair while trying to recolor it, I hope it will be helpfull anyway. I also changed hete hair cut a bit.

eddie hitler

thank you both for the help. I have given them more colours.Their skin tones match now, I didn't like the skin tone of the orange one as he looked a tad sick. The two blokes have the same colours but reversed, I couldn't come up with another decent set of colours you see. Here they are
and enlarged

what do you think?

They're good, but you should look into the color schemes. For example, you could change the hues of the highlights and shadows away from the base color to make the lighting more alive and believable. Also, you could mix some colors, for example having different strokes in the hair. In addition, you might wanna take a look at some good character design to see color combinations in them. Personally, I'd add a whole lot more color variation to the hair and the clothes. And don't let the color of the clothes be too close to the color of the skin.

ildu, that is realy interesting!do you think you could show me an example of this using one of my sprites? that would be kickass :)
