I was playing about and came up with the following basis for a background.
But rather than carrying on and destroying it forever, as I tend to do, I thought I'd ask you guys what you think I could do next.
I have no idea what the game is going to be, but I was kind of hoping that making a new background might be the kick up the arse I need to get me making a game.

Not sure why I chose purple... might be something to do with the fact that I've been playing 'The Dig' demo which uses quite a lot of purpley shades...
Absolutely any suggestions/ideas/paintovers are welcome.
Looks very interesting Stu, and yeah, reminds me a bit of The Dig.
Obviously you need some foreground objects here, but be careful of ruining the mood you've got going by adding wildly differing shades, I'd say. Purple is a good colour for a sort of otherworldly look - I can imagine this in a cutscene, perhaps with a plane flying or something?
You could also put a small desert style village closer towards the mountains...
Nice work.
Wow, this one is really interesting!
I can absolutely imagine playing a game in this shade, it's hilarious. Perfect idea!
As for suggestions, I would make it as minimalistic as I could. Don't add many objects. Just make it look like it's not flat, and add only neccesary interaction objects.
