Title: Refining my style!
Post by: cuestaluis on Fri 13/11/2009 00:22:42
Hi! I'm trying out some new stuff and I'd like to get a bigger view (you know, like, my friends say it's great but they know nothing! kind of stuff).

So scold me if you may!

Nice, very nice. Like the style you have going there, quite unique. One crit though, I don't really like the shading on the nose or bottom lip. They are areas most likely to have highlights, not shadows. The hatching could be used elsewhere, I do like how it looks, but not where it is on the drawing.

Thanks!

The hatching is an ugly habit of mine, here it was just for me know I had to make those areas pinkish when coloring, but mostly I just like to do that to make the faces less plain, ex (sorry for the bad photo):

but you're totally right, light usually reflects there.

I kinda like the lines on the nose of the characters (not so much on the girl's nose though).
You know how an alcoholic has a dark redish/purple nose?  Well those hatching lines make them look like alcoholics, which I feel fits the two male characters nicely.
