Title: RoN- kitten krysis style
Post by: Renegade Implementor on Sun 21/12/2014 20:40:02
I've made an attempt at spriting up a kitten in Krysis' style (or as close to it as possible) and I'm not sure if I've accomplished that with any success.  Any suggestions on how and where things can be improved would be most appreciated.

In the worksheet below I've provided examples of the original kitten sprite, Mary the fox in Krysis' style (which is the style that's being emulated), and Drake just as a height comparison reference.

Cute :)

I think the outline of the white socks could be a bit darker. In the side view, they should either be the same or significantly different.

With the way the RON backgrounds are and cats usually walking on the floor, I don't think the back feet will be visible in the front walkcycle and vice versa. The black pixel line under the lifted leg looks a bit off IMHO, I'd try it without it.

Thanks for the suggestions, they were most helpful.

Don't know exactly what style you're looking for, but I miss a pixel or two to define the back leg of the cat, and maybe a pixel or two less on the belly next to the back leg (unless you're going for a fat cat ;) ). (Last part doesn't seem to work).

The style that I was attempting to emulate was designed by Krysis (see the example of Mary the fox in the first picture).  I've made some adjustments, redid the colouring and I think I've got something that works given the height limit of 16 pixels (it a kitten after all).  I'm pretty happy with this and I think it's serviceable, or at least cute. :)
