Small beach and palmtree

Here's a background I drew a few minutes ago just because I was bored.

Only thing I'm not happy with is the leaves on the palmtree.

Looks pretty good but too... uh... empty. Why not add a sun or some small white clouds or shells on the sand, an island at the horizon maybe or other things.

About the leaves on the palmtree, I don't draw palm leaves like that. My suggestion is that you search for pictures of palmtrees on Altavista or Google for references.

But seriously that looks really good. Maybe it's a little too bright. Try to add some more contrast.

I think the leaves are awesome. Quite original. But the water is awfully straight.

* Lowered the contrast
* Added a small island
* Added a sun

@Mats: How do you draw palm leaves (just curious)? And I did search google before making a palmtree. It's supposed to be a bit toony.

I like the palm leaves, gives it a lot of character and style. One thing i would most certainly add would be a little mound of sand or something et the base of the palmtree, at the moment that edge is very sharp and doesnt look right.

Not sure if im right here but i think by strait he meant calm, the sea is very flat, maybe just a few gentle waves here and there.

When I added more contrast it looked a whole lot brighter, and he said I should make it darker... I'm confused.

Yeah, I tried to make it look like it was going into the sand, but it didn't turn out right. I'll try to do something about it.
