So here I was again, playing around with my tablet. This time instead of drawing cute bunnies I decided to drawing something else as cute. So, I got this photo from my friend, and tried to paint the photo with the volito 2 pencil. I just love the way this thing works. Even though it seems my pen is starting to wear out, maybe I push too much. Anyway, pencils are my cup of tea.
Ã,  Ã,  Even though my wrist hurts like hell after 3 hours, I'm quite satisfied. I think I got the spirit of her captured in this. Well, must say, drawing people is much harder than drawing bunnies. I reckon, with people, you really have to get the personality show on the face, while with bunnies it doesn't really matter, they're cute anyway. OK, I hope I did her justice :)

If you please, comments are always welcome

EDIT: actually it looks better in the original size, so here be it: http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/664/monaos0.jpg

Looking good. The face needs some work, as it is the most hardest part in human anatomy to draw, at least in my opinion.
If I were you, I would paste a picture of a female face in the picture, and try to "copy" that as in taking the shapes. One thing I noticed is the ears, they are way too down, our eyes lineup with the upper part of our ears. Hands needs some work too. Clothing looks fine, bit too teenish if you ask me, but whattehell.
Other than that, looking real nice!

Yes, well, I can't help the clothes, that's the thing she wore in the reference photo I mentioned. Thanks for the advice, I'll look into it. Oh the possibilities of computers :)

Here's a new try.

I see it look sworse everytime I upload it... oh well. Nevermind the eyes... Well she is 15 so give it a rest!

Hey, we have 55 views here and only one reply... what's that supposed to be. please :'(

Coolio

IMO the latest edit makes her cheeks look a bit chubby, for lack of a better word. I think maybe make them closer to the original in shape. Great work though!!!  ;D
mmmmm... sparkly

Uh...Please.....PLEASE...tell me this edit was a joke.

Okay...IMO, the first pic was way better. Although the ear might look a bit low at first, really to me I just envision her hair covering the top of her ear.

I will however agree that the hands could use a little more work. Hands are kind of difficult things to draw, but with a little modifications I think they'll be fine.

Oh, and one more thing...the flowers(?) and skirt(?) across the bottom could use a bit of work. Perhaps some more shading/definition. They stand out a lot.

And.......I just noticed you changed the eyes. Please put them back. They looked nicer...gentler...the way they were before.

Buuut...all criticism aside, WONDERFUL job. You did a lot better than I could! Keep up the great work!

Yeah, I think the original edit is actually pretty close. I don't think the ears really need to be changed - it just looks to me like they're covered by hair. But the face in the original is a lot better than the edit. I think the one thing that could be fixed is the pupils of her eyes. She's looking a little cross-eyed. The edit actually improved it.

I also can't quite come to grips with her skirts/pants/shorts/whatever it's supposed to be. It needs to be clarified a little, or maybe just changed completely.

Oh, and I just noticed, her belly-button looks a bit off center.

LOL

explainings: those are pants... I think... it's not really visible in the picture, but I know she has pants like those, so they're pants... Ok, I don't get the flower (something) thing thingie there' but she wore one at that time. Shit I'm having a terrible time with the face... though I think it's getting better all the time... well not all the time, but after the first mod.

Oh, and she's wearing a blue jewel thing in the belly button.
can't seem to get the index finger look right :(

Yeah, well... kiss my kitten

MadReizka

Actually I like the second and third picture more. Makes the face look more natural. And the lines are more clear than in the first post, imho, or at least face aint so "blurry".

I think the third effort is an improvement. Without a picture of the actual girl, it's hard to tell how close you are to the model, but I think it looks good. It looks like she lost a little bit of her smile from the original. Not really a criticism, but I guess I'd just prefer the bigger smile.   :)

My comment on her belly button was referring to the left/right position of it. The line marking the center of the shirt should also be the centerline of her torso, so the belly button should pretty much line up underneath the center of the shirt. Right now it looks right-of-center.

Try making the fingers a little longer. For the left hand (her right), I think the fingers need extend farther forward. Same, I think, with right hand (her left): try extending them a little bit farther forward and lower down.

Yes, I actually measured that one with a (what's the thing that you draw straight lines with?), and I thinkit's because of the posture, but the shirt line isn't straight, and the belly button isn't in line with it.

You are good on the way, but your piece lacks confidence. It's all a massive amount of tiny scribbles making up undynamic shapes. You could go Baron Yoshimoto and practice making only lines on pieces of paper until you have improved your coordination, and first then sketching. ;)

Nah, seriously, you can see a good sense of anatomy behind a resonably good picture, but the massive amount of scribbles remove any dynamics this picture could have. Look up crosshatching pictures and see how it is shaded. Perhaps start out with fruit exercisesor other types of still lifes.

You have great potential. Better use it! =)

Tuomas

yeah, it's a completely new way of art, making it with your tablet, you never know how a line turns out before you try. That's why I prefer real pencils which I have dozens of here, but this is just practising the tablet. But it's fun, and well, if you make a mistake you can always repair it.

why thank you for the kind words, this is how I wanted it to appear ;)

Please supply original photo used for reference, remove facial properties if you'd understandably wish not to let anyone know who it is, so people can help you with likeness and form translation from photo to art. There's not much to be said besides the metioned lack of confidence that tomato spoke of in the technique you've shown so far, so it might be good to recieve help in the translating reference aspect of it.

I would provide, but, eh, she doesn't want me to, so I'll just draw something else... thanks anyway, I know I need practise, I haven't done this for long, so...
