scientist walk cycle (front)

I'm pretty satisfied with the guy, but he maybe walks a little too much like a cowboy (legs jut out a bit too much maybe?).  Any thoughts?

For such a "long legged" stride, I might put his knees up higher. Sort of looks like he's wearing bell-bottomed pants.

Yeah, he's got pretty wide legs. It looks like a strut. Real people don't usually walk with very wide legs, and don't angle their feet so widely. Personally I think it looks basically right if your character is climbing a ladder with their legs; when stationary it looks a little strange, but when actually animated (and they are moving) it looks right.

You know, I could see a walk like that working in a more stylized game. It's kind of flamboyant and nerdy in a good way.

It all depends on what you want people to notice, and what sort of atmosphere you're creating. May I ask what he's going to be used for?

he's just a scientist...nerdy is fine, but he's not supposed to look jokey.

Hmm, maybe you should tone down the amount he tilts his feet and the amount of sideways movement in his legs in that case. I hope that doesn't sound critical- really he looks good the way he is, and the animation is very good.

I think it is a really smooth and nice animation! Well done!

As som people have said, maybe relocate his knees a bit upwards. Also the way the lab coat moves just with his legs make it seem a bit as if he's got nice round hips that he is wiggling while he walks. I think this could be solved by making the coat movement a little more dynamic, allowing it to move a little higher up. I'm not quite sure.

Maybe lower down would work too... Keeping the upper part of the leg more covered...

Yeah, maybe too wide, but that does not matter sometimes. It depends on how much of that walkcycle you will see in game. Is it main character ? Or do you see him walking forwards only a few times in a game ?

It is the main character, but it's a one room game and you won't see the animation much.  I'm going to keep it as is.  But I could use some more help.



I'm happy with the front and quarter view, but something is still wrong with the profile view.  What am I doing wrong?  It looks a bit off, doesn't it?  I'm sure it's just a few pixels that need to be shifted to make his posture look right...

It looks to me like his head is a couple pixels too far forward.

Yep, that's it. Move the head one or two pixels to the left, connect the neck to the back if still necessary and there you go.

Better? That's one pixel back...two pixels looks a bit strange.

His arm is the sideview is a bit strange. Most people bend their arms more when they stand, he seems to have a straight arm.
