There`s one Screenie! ;D
If you've read the rules (which I suspect you haven't) then you will note it Requires 1 Screenshot (provided) AND a clear outline of the story. Amazing screenshot out of interest how did you make the Background and the Sprite?
...Isn't Link an elf though?
Isn't Link an RPG character? Heh. I never really thought of what Link was, He's got Pointy ears so he's probably an elf or that Star Trek guy, the one with pointy ears.
He is a Hyruleian. Therefor he is Human. His dad is not mentioned therfore he may be a cross between something else like an elf.
I never gave much thought to why Link has the pointy ears ... interesting.
I think the background looks pretty cool (scanned?), and the character sprite is pretty good too. However, I'm not sure they go well together. The styles are different and rather clash ... Maybe do a trace over the background image. It looks like a scan anyway so could probably use a touch up.
The sprite looks like it's a traceover of a Megaman sprite. It also looks like it needs alot more shading.
Just for the record, does every creature depicted with pointy ears have to be related to elves?
After all, elves only exist in certain fantasy traditions, and surely there isn't a monopoly on ear features

Fanboy sense... tingling...
He's Hylian. There are no humans in Hyrule.
I'm with you, Lucky. I don't want to just bag you but this is coming from a big, big Zelda fan. The styles of the sprite and background really do clash.
If "Human" isn't the name of some other character in the game, you have a serious story clash in the game too. How many Zelda games have you played?
guys, really, who gives a shit? :=

We Zelda Fanboys/girls do, Dan. :P
TomPel, are you sure you want Link to speak in your game and not carry on the tradition that Link is a mute (well, except for that "Come On!" in Wind Waker)? Perhaps you can make the narrator speak FOR Link, instead of him speaking for himself.
I consider no games after Link To The Past to be any part of the Zelda Cannon. I don't know why this is pertinent.
ANYWAY...... with some work, you'll be on your way. Let's see some more, shall we?

I'm not a member, but I just wanna say that the sprite was not made by him and was actually made by a guy called SemiJuggalo.
Just pointing that out...
Oh yeah, a comment. Well, I don't think the BG and the sprite match very well, but if you pull this off properly it might work.
I think a few of us possibly guessed that he did not make the Sprite, maybe my Sarcastic tones were to Subtle.
It's a nice BACKGROUND...Ã, now the only thing you need is a GROUND. It looks like he's floating. Try to make the ground more clean.

Besides, it is in the Critics lounge, and he hasn't told us exactly what to critique. Just "Here's a screenshot". I think everyone's points are valid. If you're making a Zelda fangame, surely you want to give at least a few details right.
it was in games in production, along with another of his posts, I doubt that background is his aswell if he is stealing a sprite
Woah, woah..
Everyone chill out.
First of all every humanlike character in Hyrule/Termina/Lybrynna have pointy ears. If any race in the lands are elves it would be the Kokiri who live in the forest and garb themselves in green and such.
Second, Link is a Hylian.. Not to be confused with Hyrulian which is generally refered to more political and man made objects of the land of Hyrule. Hylians are the people who live in Hyrule. Link is not a robot damnit.
Third, disregarding all the games after "A Link To The Past" because of its cool factor is silly. The Gameboy/Gameboy colors expand on that style extremely well if you are so stuck in that look and those style of puzzles.
Forth, Zelda is not an RPG. You could argue this for hours but the original game was created based around earlier adventure games with added action elements. sure they have similiar elements but I mean so do Adventure games and so do platform games and so do FPS. An RPG's core gameplay is very different. (Pen & Paper or Console)
5st, Um.. I can't think of anything else so. Be cool, stay in school!
Edit:
6th, Oh and Dart. Hylians can speak through telepathy...
This thread is getting awfully gen-genic...
Especially since the author hasn't yet replied. As I suspect both his background and his sprite are stolen, it'd be interesting if he could write some answer to that. Now that he isn't here, people seem to be arguing for their own sake.
Discussions about Zelda can be very lengthy and boring for the non-initiated, so I suggest you continue that in the gen-gen.
Thank you.

It's not really the style, per se. I just consider a Link to the Past to be the Pinnacle of the series, before it really delved into Fanboy fantasy, so for me I leave it there. I'm not saying anyone's an ass-clown for liking the games beyond that, however! My enjoyment of the series would be diminished after that, so I leave it in my memory, beloved like a teddy bear.
