Title: Short MIDI Jingle
Post by: Das Plans on Mon 05/12/2005 21:55:58
Hi there.

I just made this short Jingle for my fake adventure studio. Nothing special, really. But anyways, what do you think?

Here it is: Jingle (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Paperchase_Jingle.mid)

Oh, by the way... When I play this file in my WinAmp, it's being slightly distorted. Am I having this problem alone, or do you notice something similar?

Sounds rather a good little jingle. Portentious. The bells at the end are a nice touch.

Nice! Can work really well!

The distortion is there allright! It is due to the many doublings/instruments you use. And all at the same velocities. You have horns, choir, some other instrument and also guitar, all playing the same 3 chords, at the same time (except the guitar which has arpegiato). Either change the instrumentation a little, although I like the sound, or even better play a little with the velocities. And try the result in different headphones/speakers, to see if it distortes.

Very nice!

EDIT: I didn't use my headphones, though, about the distortion. Still what I said above stand. It may be my speakers that get a little distortion out, but if it is my speakers it will be most speakers then...

Odd. Didn't pick any distortion up when I played it with Timidity.

No distortion for me.

A suggestion would be to use expression (controller 11 I think?) envelopes to fade the strings in and out and make them more organic-sounding that way.

Hey, thanks a lot fpr the quick replies. Unfortunately, I won't be able to work on my computer for the next days, but I'll try getting rid of this distortion thingie later - according to your propositions. Thanks again!!!
