i am quite a perfectionist and i am never satisfied with my background art, i have a great love for the first two simon games and was just wondering if you had any advice on how to replicate their style of background art. ;D
Yip, Google. Study, draw...
And try to Google some of the authors tutorials(I can't remember the name)!
thanks, you see it seems easier to just go for a dott cartoony style but i wouldnt be satisfied with it
;D
I think it would be easier to come with suggestions and advices if we saw some of your work.
Buy, and familiarize yourself with the usage of Pro Motion. Or just warez and use deluxe paint 2 if you don't mind dosmode. Gfx2 is an option.. generally, mspaint and the like, even sprite-geared programs like Graphics Gale are not good options for indexed painting art like in the Simon games.
Good luck. It's not like anyone has pixelpushed any adventure game art that looks better than Simon.

It just a red X to me! >:(
I hate user-posted images.
IMHO it would be nicer to say "I hate it when user posted images don't load." just a small reminder to be kinder. well enough moralizing, I'll just sit back, twiddle my thumbs and whistle.
Don't worry, he PMed me so there's no prob...
hehe Dont worry old school is kewl!
:) thanks, i will post some art as soon as i get the chance, working on script as of now.

have you actually played the game?
it's almost not as bad as it looks, you do kind of get the impression they built the game around the 3d engine (and i don't just mean that it's a bad game because of the terrible engine), and not the engine around the game.
it really is a terrible engine with terrible textures, and even though the texture details has been increased in some of the places where it's needed (ie. signposts) it can still be difficult to make stuff out.
there are also too many references to it being a game, it's like they've just totally torn down the fourth wall rather than just maybe put a little window in it so they can peak out into the audience.
the bad engine doesn't make this a bad game though, nobody on the dev team having the balls to say "you know, this isn't actually looking that good and the game is kinda not up to the standard of the first two" does.
i hated the third simon game, :'( it was the first two i was talking about
