Hey folks,

about a year ago my brother designed a bunny character for a game idea he had. I was a bit bored today and decided to turn his concept art into an actual sprite. Here it is:

1x 3x

Tell me what you think? Any c&c is much appreciated.
Thanks.

IMO create sprite !

However is that a skateboard? Its a bit small for his huge bunny feet! ;)

Venus

Thanks  :D
Yeah, that's supposed to be a skateboard and now that I look at it, it's really a bit small, but that only adds to the comedy style of the game  ;)

Looks great, maybe just make the outlines a bit darker so they stand out.

It's not a skateboard, it's a bananaboard!!

Not bad sprite work, Venus, but the overall shape could use work. Try looking at the outlines.

One way of drawing sprites is just to draw the entire sprite as a silhouetted character and then fill it out.

I think the sprite is perfect, venus, that's an awesome sprite, i do aggree with progz. The drawing itself is very good and balanced.

Thanks for all the comments. Keep them coming.

I darkened the outline and it definitely looks better now, so thanks for the tip, ProgZ.

Geoffkhan: Could you give me an example of a part of the shape that needs some more work? I'm not quite sure I get what you mean. I actually did draw the silhouette first and then filled it out.

EDIT: Here is the updated version:

And I made another one. Let me introduce you to the infamous Count Carrotula, the villain of this tale:

1x 3x

Once again, I'd love to hear your opinions, especially on the cloak and the hair, but basically on everything.

Gregjazz

The shading of the outline is too consistent; it looks a little flat, which I know is okay because it's cartoon, but you might want to try giving it more depth. It's a little symmetrical, also.

Shane 'ProgZmax' Stevens

Symmetry is fine unless the actual pose of the sprite suffers for it.  As for the second sprite, I really like his design and expression, but the vest comes down so far it almost looks like a dress.  If you're going to go with them all not having pants I'd bring the vest up high and show his belly.  Also, you might want to shade the ears for consistency.  Great work!

I think the first sprite looks great as it is.  But Carrotula's teeth seem a bit misshapen.  Perhaps you could try to make them shorter and/or a bit more symmetrical.  I think if the outside edges are a bit too straight perhaps?

Venus

I'll work on the shading a bit more to make the outline less consistent. Thanks, Geoff.
I'll also rework the vest. Once again, thanks for the tip, ProgZ.

Concerning the teeth: Carrotula is supposed to be a blood drinking vampire rabbit (that's all part of my brother's slightly crazy, but brilliant story), so I tried to give him some sort of vampire teeth, while still keeping them bunny/rabbit like. I might try some other designs.

Thanks for all the help so far.

Afflict

To be honest I like both these sprites as they are now.
