Title: simple gui
Post by: evilspacefart on Thu 18/09/2003 07:43:09
Here's a simple GUI I'm testing, even though it has some really ugly graphics right now.

actions in upper left, inventory in middle, load/save/exit on right. mouseover text on bottom.

right click walks character, blinking circle appears on floor at walking destination, which disappears when player gets there.

I will make a GUI template of it after MAGS if people think its worth downloading.

Actually, it's available now as a template.

feel free to make changes.

It is pretty cool, but I would suggest adding the title of the game in the top, middle region, and maybe a different colour (black) for the inventory window(so that it doesn't look too empty)

I would also like to state that this is my [shadow=orange, glow width, #characters wide]300th[/shadow] post...wooo...bah, forget it.

Great idea! I really like the red circle thing. Maybe make it get smaller then bigger rather then lighter and darker. Know what I mean?

I downloaded that GUI, cos it seemed to be close to what I've had in mind for my (first) game.

I tried to import it to my game, but I couldn't cos it's a .agt -file and you can only import a .gui -file.

What am I doing wrong? :o

ps. What's the policy in this case, should this post be in technical forum?

You need the latest version of AGS (2.56) and you use the .agt template when you create a new game and it asks you to pick a template.

Maybe CJ could add something to the "import GUI" thing that points people to the right place for AGTs, as this is about the 3rd or 4th time I've heard this question!

thanks guys.
SSH is right, use the agt as a new template for a game in v2.56. (i think it works in 2.55 too)
the red circle has a problem i've been trying to fix:
it works fine in rooms whose width is 320 pixels or lower. Any rooms that are longer will cause it to not appear properly. ???
i will post an update when its fixed as well as a better inventory window and such.

Updated, but without the red circle. It was just causing me too much headache.

Basically, updated the ugly graphics with graphics a little less ugly IMO.
Font by proskrito.

Hmm.. Somehow you’d expect the arrow to come out of the file instead of going in..

Or is it just me? :-\  ;)

I think you're right sagte  :)

Sorry dasterdlyspaceflatulent
I liked the the first one better, I just really like that mouth.  I would suggest not using white outlines man, but if you must, I would like to point out that on the updated version:
The fingers need to be longer on the hand and that lump behind the thumb, should be more of a slope

I will fix.
