I know nothing about 3D animation, but I think it looks really good so far ^_^.  One suggestion: for the talking head, having some expression in the eyes (by changing the shape of his eyelids) would help get his emotion across.

Wow, I really love that rendering. AS for the head, it looks great. But I agree with Mash, put something into the eyes/eyelids. Have him blink at some point. Perhaps right after "forget it." It's amazing what one little blink can do.

In my un-professional experience, I'd say this looks quite professional.. Just by that one still. Very very cool.

actually he will have different shaped eyes. one will be flattened down the other will be stretched up. but this process i can only do after ive programmed in the blinks and expressions (which havent been done yet I'm still finishing off the different vowal and consanat possitions for the lips. The reason for the weird shaped eyes is that he is slightly crazy this guy.

The render looks good as does the animation. Blinking would help a great deal, but other things will help it look smoother. Antenna bobbing, mustache curls moving when the mouth moves, things like that. How long did this take you?

My suggestion would be to make him look a little more military. I don't know if you plan on putting your characters in clothes, but maybe you could give him some chest candy (medals, ribbons, decorations, etc.), or have him a military hat, or give him a sidearm or something. For some reason I picture him in something like a World War I British Army uniform.

Since he's a Colonel, I'd maybe make him look a little older - like some gray in his mustache or something. Also I feel like he needs a monocle, but that could just be me.

actually the medalian thing is already worked in, this is what the other side of the shell looks like. Yuo cant see them all but he has this 3 stars simbolising his colonel status

I'm staying away from clothes and props though for this film.

Eh, not to nitpick, but 3 stars would make him a general (a lieutenant general, to be exact). A colonel is a silver eagle. Well, at least in the U.S. army. I suppose it could be different for other armies, or if you don't really care, then just ignore me. :)

I did a little looking around on my own (I love Wikipedia), and I didn't realize how different every country does it.

If you compare all the Polish army ranks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_Armed_Forces_rank_insignia#Officers) a Colonel is actually 3 stars and 2 bars. 3 stars by themselves is a 1st Lieutenant. For the Dutch army ranks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_ranks_of_the_Dutch_armed_forces#Officers), a Colonel is 3 stars and a bar (3 stars alone is a Captain).

The U.S. army (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Army_officer_rank_insignia) is a silver eagle, and the British army (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_army_officer_rank_insignia) is two stars and a crown. Out of curiousity I also looked at the French army (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranks_in_the_French_Army) (5 gold bars), and the German army (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Army_rank_insignia) (3 silver stars and some kind of crossed-leaves thingy).

In the end,  I guess it doesn't really matter as long as you've got a lot of stuff hanging on his uniform. :)
