Oh my, ANOTHER sketch? [Nudity?]

Got bored in graphic design class, decided to draw one of the many sculptures scattered around the studio.

Crit, tear apart, throw rotten fruit at, paint over, help.

Evil

The preportions on the leg look... off. The length looks ok, maybe a little short, but the knee looks low. The bone structure looks nice, except for his right leg. The bone of the lower leg should be at the front of the leg. If you feel your own leg, you can see what I mean.

Al_Ninio

By 'knee looks low', do you mean his left or right knee?
Also, yes, his right leg is horrible :P
I actually erased it, but the scan made it too visible -_-

What about the rest, though?
Is it okay?

Sorry for chopping his arms off, too, but as I said, sculpture.
Poor guy never had any arms.

Evil

His right arm is too bulky. The muscle should be farther down the non-exoistant arm.

The muscle off of his neck goes out a little to far on his shoulders.

His pecks, along with being out of alignment with his torso, are too little and too high.

He appears to have no "love handles" (dont know the correct term).  Because of the angle, he wouldnt have as much of one appearing on the left as he would right.

Both knees look low, but the whole right leg is screwy like you said.

Not really important things, just some nit-picking.

the most blatant anatomical fault that I see is that the arms are way too short

the foot also looks too wide

the neck muscle is a bit too wide also

the ear is a little big

the mouth is significantly too wide

define the nose and facial features a little better, master the face and you have mastered the art...easier said than done, of course

I like your approach of drawing the bones...looks fun.  probably not very helpful, but interesting nonetheless.  keep it up

Al_Ninio

Ah, damnable anatomy :)
Guess I'll just have to keep hitting those Loomis books.
I used to get discouraged real easily when doing figure drawings.
They were just... bad.
Not that good yet, but hell, I'm seeing an improvement, so I'm getting encouraged to keep drawing.

Thanks for the crits, it seems that I keep making the same mistakes whenever I draw a figure.
Define facial features... I can't draw noses for the life of me.
Although the main focus of this sketch was trying to get the figure right, I'll take that into mind.

Thanks a lot, guys! :)

Evil

Hah, I printed the PDFs out and put them in binders.

Erwin_Br

Damn, I should have done that too when I still had a job. (Y'know, using the company's laserjet, heheh)

How many pages are these Loomis books anyway?

Al_Ninio

I'd do that too, if I had a printer.
Or a job.

Erwin: Drawing The Head and Hands is 141 pages, Figure Drawing For All It's Worth is 197.
Don't know about the others.
