Title: Some New Yorker´s Faces
Post by: Das Plans on Wed 01/02/2006 21:05:49
Hello there!

What's the deal with those faces? Does someone probably recognize those people? Anyway, I just wanted to know, if I'm on the right way here. :)

I think Jerry is a bit anonymous-looking, and I doubt I would recognize anyone but Kramer unless I saw them all together like this. But still nice work. So, are these for an actual game or just drawing practice?

Yep, Jerry's tough, indeed. Maybe I'll try and make him a bit thinner.

As for the game ... well, I'm thinking about it. I have planned so many games by now, and I always got stuck while drawing the backgrounds, because I had to do way too much of them. You know, the old beginner's mistake. Start too big ... With this game, I would just need like 10 rooms or so. I think I could do that. But then there's the legal crap. But I really like the idea - an adventure game about nothing. We'll see ...

Thanks for the reply!  :)

A game based on Sein!?!  GENIUS!
Seriously I agree possibly a little more work on Jerry.
Also maybe differ a bit more on the face (around the eyes especially).
Great work tho I was able to tell the inspiration very quickly!

Those are pretty good. It didn't click until I read GG's comment, but now that I know who they're supposed to be it's damn obvious.
I think George's head is a bit too big. Perhaps if it was a pixel less tall and slightly rounder it would work better - like so:

I think the rest of them just need similar small tweaks...

(George is my favourite character, so I was most concerned with his look. Jerry is a bit of a straight man in the show, so it doesn't matter that he's more anonymous in my opinion.)

[EDIT] I had a stab at Elaine. Turned out surprisingly similar to Neil's. I guess we were using the same reference...

Hi there!

Thanks for the comments! I'll try and work on Jerry's everyday-face a bit more. (So far I made it a bit thinner ... looks more like it).

@Steve: Yes, you're right. George's head is a tad too big. I noticed that, when I attached the bodies yesterday. Sadly I can't show anything right now, since I'm sitting in an OnlineCafé. But I guess, your George is better anyway. Thanks for the advice!  :)
And, yes! George's character rules the show!

Anyway, thanks for the comments. I'll post something new, when I fixed the faces and added the bodies. I think, I'm really into this idea ...

See you!

I think Jerry and Kramer need bigger noses. That's what made them stand out. i think.

Hmm, interesting.  Planning the 'Game about Nothing'?

Some minor notes to consider:

Jerry:  Rarely wore his hair over his ears, oval hair line, darker brow line, and almost alway showed teeth
George:  SteveMcCrea hit this perfectly
Kramer:  Nothing to say.  You got it great in one go.
Elaine:  Little more feminine jaw line, smaller eyes, and bigger hair

Hope this helps.

I got right away where they were from, good job!
I definitely like Seleceus's edit for Jerry. Elaine needs some work I think though, she doesn't look like herself exactly.
Is it my imagination, or do they all have the same hair and eye color in your version? I don't remeber the details but I think there was at least some variation in the series.

Would be really interesting, to see a game about nothing :).

Holy cow, Seleceus, you did it. Great improvement on Jerry! Now, the only problem is, that he's constantly looking down (or up, if the pupils are changed). But I guess, that's the smallest problem. Thanks a lot!

As for the colour of their hair. I wanted to care about that later, when I had the basic bodies and all ... which should be sometime by tomorrow evening. I'm still away from my computer.  >:(

Anyways, thanks for everything. It's good to see, that some people are really interested in playing a game about nothing.  :D

Tried to do something on Elaine and George. I had to introduce another (brighter) skintone, and feel it's a bit different from your style. Hope it still is helpful.

I see your point, Ginny, so I went and looked at a decent photo of Julia, and made a couple changes. (see above post)

Better?

If you notice, she tends to show teeth when she smiles, like Jerry, but not as much. She also has a different hairdo in most scenes than the sprite.
