Hey yall,
I've been trying to build up my tablet skills as of late. I did this one based on a reference photo I took myself and then lost, so this is done from memory. Anyhow, tell me what you htink, what can be improved, paintovers very welcome :)

There is, quite frankly, a lot to be done.
At your stage, I think you'd be much better off actually drawing from references. Your figure lacks any sort of natural colours, shading or even shapes.
Pick a good reference photo, start from scratch, sketch out the basic shapes, overlaping lines and shapes, basic shading etc.

When you have a basic sense of these aspects, come back for advise regarding colours!

Magic

I think that it's pretty good and a suitable point to ask for suggestions.

I'm no artist, but you definitely need to flesh out the skin tones.

I like it, I think it's good, and I think the colours are actually very good. But, I'm sure there's something odd about her bum. Cheek lines and stuff :)

Just sketched a bit to give you some ideas. Couldn't find a good photo reference, so I took your pose and experimented a bit with basic shape-drawing and skin-colouring.
The pose in itself is hard to draw, and it'll take plenty of kro-ki classes before you'll get it fairly ok.

* Skin colour is never just one colour
* A shadow is not just a darker version of a colour

I've always thought it appropriate to manage the realism behind figures and bodies before going "arty". You can always get away by saying that you pursued some sort of expressionism, and that there's no need for you to master real skin-tones or shades etc.

Then again, if you want inspiration to create stylistic, expressionistic figures, check out Schiele:

Thanks Mark and Magic for the compliments.
Thanks Andail for the suggestions and crits, I'm at school at the moment so I cant work on it, but I'll get home and give it a shot. I know I'm not that great at shadows, but I'm not really sure on how to improve that without just winging it and learning as I go, which'd be slow and tedious. Is there any good tutorials for shadowing a body?

Spent quite a while on this, it's not the nude figure, this is based off a photo of my friend Evan, I just used it to practice shading, I'm pretty happy with the jacket and the hair, and I think my skin shading is a bit better, anyway, I'm not the pro, so tell me what you guys think.

Edit: More contrast on skin.

Tuomas

The last one looks really British because of the colours in the back :) It also looks like it's been traced on a reference photo or something because it's so perfectly shaped. he looks like a girl though. It might benefit from sharper details, but I'm not sure if you're going for the fudge-pudding look here. Though the skin still needs more contrast, since that's what the hair and jacket are all about.

I traced the shape of the head and did rough outlines of the facial features, this was more to experiment with shading rather than shape. I'll try sharpen the lips, thats the thing that to me seems to give it the more feminine appearance.
This is the reference I used: http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/14-04-06_2311.jpg

UPDATE

Here's the picture with sharpened lips, and less lipstick like coloring, I think it's improved the general look, does he look a bit less feminine now?
