Hey all, here's a sprite for my game:
Her name is Adelaide, and she lives alone in the wild. Hence, her clothes are supposed to look like animal skins and furs (with the exception of her hat, unless she killed a muppet).
Any crits are welcome, although I'd appreciate help making her hair less "yellow" and more "blonde." Also, I'm not quite happy with the front view of her face. I kind of want her to be wearing a scarf the same colour as her hat, but I haven't found a way of drawing one that I'm satisfied with.
Thanks!
Ack! It's Dart!
hehehe, no crits here. I really like it.
Good sprite happens too.
Well done.
I think by adding about 4 pixels along the outside of the arm, around where the elbow would be would thicken up her arm quite well, in the front and rear views.
It seems her chest is higher on the first side, then the third, but they're both side views. (I could be wrong, I didn't get a ruler out.)
I would have her eyes pointing down in the side views, not up.
The front view, I would rather her look crosseyed, then looking off to one side. Keeping it that way, could make it weird if you had her "look at"something across the room to the right, and shes still looking to the left when describing.
Very, very nice character.
If you do what Scummbuddy said and shade the fur(?) on the bottom of her pants, it's perfect.
Maybe add 1 or 2 colours to the hair. That way, if the character walks by something yellow it won't disappear.
Fantastic :o
- One of the best character sprites to hit the Lounge
Here you go, things I did:
1. Adjusted her torso up (it was too long)
2. Made the poses match (her head was too low in the side view, boobs were too high, etc).
3. Added a rough texture to her shirt to make it look rugged
4. Made the shading consistent on all views (light is on the left)
5. Made hair color more blonde as requested
6. Added shading

hope this helps.

Haha, that DOES sorta look like me. o_O With the blonde hair and archery equipment and whatnot. Though my hair is a bit shorter than hers. :P
Anyways, I would just follow Proggy's advice. He pretty much did everything I wanted to do with the sprite... which was pretty well done in the beginning, anyway, but Proggy made it awesomer. :D

Ack! It's Dart!
If it was Dart, there would've been a black hat instead of a blue one. =P
Anyways, Progs edit is amazing, makes the sprite even better than before.
They eyes are still too high. Look:

Eyes higherÃ, Ã, Ã, Ã, Ã, Ã, Ã, Ã, Ã, Ã, Ã, Ã, Ã, Ã, Eyes lower
Actually Pablo, I think the eyes look awkward in the lower front edit you made. Remember, she is wearing a hat so part of her forehead is obscured.
I agree with Pablo on this one.
She looks freaky in your edit, Prog. Your other changes are great though.
And the original sprite was excellent too - didn't really need much polishing.
Thanks to all of you for your advice. Ã,Â
Progz, once again, your paintover skills amaze me.Ã, I really liked the way you textured the shirt, but I'm afraid I'll sacrifice that level of detail to be able to include lots of animations.Ã, The hair edit was just the type of thing I was looking for.Ã, :)
She looks kind of like Dart, eh? Ã, Well, the character
is supposed to live in the Canadian wilderness, and I
did notice Dart is from Canada too...(It's okay, so am I Ã, ;) )
Anyway, heeeere's Addy!

I'm not too concerned with minor differences in the position of the eyes or whatnot...I'm quite happy with the way she looks now. Ã, Here's what I did:
- Shaded the fur on her pants
- De-yellowed the hair
- Changed the colour of her eyes and gloves, just because
- Outlined her face a little
- Fixed the shading on the quiver
- Added another shade to her hat for good measure
Hm, looks like I forgot to make the arms wider...well, you guys are good at using your imaginations, right? Ã, ;)
I would hope Dart would have much bigger bre... Umm... Lips! Yea, lips.

Are THESE big enough lips for you, Legume? :P
That's what in Spanish is called "to piss out of flowerpot", [lgm]...

Her eyes were very high indeed and while it's tricky make them point in a good direction with a limited amount of pixels, pointing them downleftwards is probably not the way to go.
She also seems to lean forward in the original, so I straightened her out.
I really like the character btw.
Edit: Forgot to zoom it
Thanks again for the suggestions, everyone! I've put together a little tutorial on how I did this sprite, and you can read it here (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=21434.0/). I hope it's useful, wise, pithy, and life-changing.
Yes Dart, very sexy.
Loominous' edit really hit the spot. The original eyes made her look a bit dumbfounded (no offense, Ivy!).
Also, some people should keep in mind that this isn't the gen-gen, and that their posts should contain proper c&c.
