SQ3VGA new screen - what do you think?

I've just finished a new SQ3VGA screen, and I think it could use some feedback. Tell me what you think.

Maybe you could add some noise to the metal part. Otherwise, it's great! Can't wait for SQ3VGA!

Hmmm... is SQ3 the game that changed Roger's hair colour. If it is, I like what you did having it so that part is brown and another blonde. Like we don't know what the hell the colour ends up being...

I just noticed the heart rate thing (?) is a little our of perspective. It looks great just needs a little work. Great job.

Looks good, but a bit squished.
Is that because it's 320x200 and designed for full screen?

[edit] I just resized it to 320x230 and it looks much better. So never mind.

Sweet looking BG, the only thing I notice was the way the shoulders were, one gently slopes and the other falls and is rather broad.

But nothing big, that screen is only there for like 30 seconds during the intro I think.

I like it!

The only thing bothering me apart from a flat lookin face is that rogers nose looks...artificial...prosetic. It doesn't look very natural because it looks to be shaped like half a cone rather than a proper nose shape.

Damn straight! I've probably played SQ3 through a dozen times. It's nice to see someone re-working the graphics but keeping the same style.

BTW, Evil.. when did you get good?

Your edit was insightful and subtle. I do like the look of it better.. the nose is still a problem. Other than that, I think the pic overall looks nice. As for the EKG, it could be a pseudo-fisheye type view so it would be in keeping with a lens distortion. Or, assuming it's got an overall trapezoidal shape then it's not too far off. A quick-fix suggestion.. you could mirror the heart-monitor onto the same surface. That way you don't have to do re-drawing and I think it might fix the slightly quirky perspective.

When you make this remake, please please please add some kind of text line for hotspots or even just have the cursor change color when you move it over a hotspot.

It's Mark Crowe's error, and all I can do is reworking existing EGA screens, so I can't help it. Sorry.

Thats no excuse! Thats one of the main purposes of remakes. Fixing what the original guys did wrong.
You should at least try it.

Looks much better but there are a few problems I see with the new version. There are to light sources (ie: white from side and purple from top). There is a dark spot on his right (out left) that really should be there. Take a look at my edit. Fade out the light purple into the face. The dark makes the cheek looked dropped. I also added a highlight and blured out that dark smile line.

I gave Wilco some plastic surgery on his nose for you. I hope it don't turn out like michael jackson that the kind of thing it should more like.

Notice the differenance in noses. My mine looks more natural than yours and since roger didn't have an artificial nose, I think we're on the right track.
