any pointers on how I can animate their walking?

Click about the Docs section of the main page and you may find these tutorials by 2ma2.  Hope they help.

Keep in mind nobody can really do your animations for you. You really have to do yourself. Animations are really about style and smoothness. We can help you with smoothness and such but you wont be able to really define a style without doing it yourself. If you show us an animation we can help you define that style... I hope that helped...

There are plenty of tutorials around, I'm sure they'll be very helpful.

By the way, I really admire that first character. Nice colours!
