Stylistic BG :D

I know it looks all weird, but I wanted it so that there can be few colours (so that I can finally have a reason to learn how to use that palette stuff), and less detailed so that I do not have to work too much and if people complain I can say it is my style :D
Seriously, I wish to make a game using this type of BG, and any C&C would be appreciated

Looks good!

My major c on this would be that it could use some more contrast. The shelf alrerady has some shades of brown, so you could perhaps use the darkest in some strategic places to prevent the ladder from looking so flat. Also the walkway/bridge/whatever looks a bit too blue compared to the walls. You could add some shadow underneath it to bring it out more. The blue on the pillow and on the chair are the same (too close to that of the walkway/bridge/whatever) and takes away depth and life from the bg. It can easily be livened up a bit by using a different color on one of them. Would also be nice to use a different pattern on the floor since it is of a different material than the walls. The top part of the shelf looks a bit "displaced" since it is one pixel to the left and exactly at the same place as one of the shelfs. Now it looks like a second shelf placed crooked on top of the other.

On a positive note:
The perspective looks good!
The lightbulb's wires is a good example of how colors gives depth to the picture. When I look at the picture there is no doubt im my mind that the bulb is hanging in the middle of the room rather than along the wall. Also nice to see that you have a grasp of physics and didn't fall in the old trap of making both wires "wavy". ;)

A good bg that can be made even better with some simple tweaks!

Thanks for the comments. I updated the BG now, it has a shadow from under the walkway. I think I messed it up more though. I am not so good with shadows. I got the ladder more realistic, though that involved almost a little too much detail than I wish the picture to have. It is necessary as you said, though, because it was looking kind of flat. I fixed the shelf too. I tried changing the colour of the walkway to less blue more grey, but it interfered with the colour of the wall, and made the overall picture look too "grey" and dull. I agree the floor, (supposed to be sand) should have a different pattern, but since I was not sure what type of pattern the sand would make, I just removed the one it already had.

SHADOWS ARE A B****!!! :)

Now that we have _that_ out of the way:

You improved it lots! About the shadow, this is my bad because I was fuzzy in my previous explanation. What I was thinking about was that you should make the lower part of it darker so that it "folds" back towards the wall and doesn't end in a sharp line. (The shadow looks good but it might increase the size of your palette?)
Shelf and ladder looks great. But since you've started adding shadows... :) maybe a shadow behind the ladder to show that it's a bit away from the wall. That will also add depth to the walkway.

Oops, didnt move the light up. Oh well.

oy... I did not even notice how the walkway was paper thin. I'll get that fixed now. Thanks for the help with the shadows Evil. I was not sure how they would go with the shelf. What did you mean about the moving the light up?

*EDIT*

And here it is. I just saw that my shadow for the ladder is on the other side of yours Evil. I am not too sure about shadows and usually mess them up. I thought that since everything goes towards the centre point, the shadow would be inside. Probably wrong at that. Btw, it is up to 238 colours now

What's with Opo Terser and doing drive-by "quick edits" without any comment?

wow......
Incredible. You are searching for BGs to edit? That is not exactly my way of working, rather tooooo detailed, but in a warped way. You've got your very own stylistic BG there :D! I may be opening a black hole here, but how did you do that? Also, who are you? It says you transferred from the ezboards, but you have total of less than 100 posts, except now!

Oh, yeah sorry for not writing much, I just like working on bg's. And yeah I use MsPaint And just kinda quickly scribble up shit.

Looks good. More contrast would make it better (mentioed in other posts) . You should allso concier to remove the wire from the lamp. Lamps does not usualy hang in wires exept from realy heavy lamps. but since this only looks like a lightbulb it should at least not hang in a wire that's thick enough to carry an elephant ...
