Just a little something I did for fun, but it went out pretty "awesome" and I thought I might adopt the style. What do you think?

Why do you want it? It's virtually the same as "El Presidente"... You can't "adopt the style" since it' s not the fist time you use that style. Why do you posted it? Is it some kind of joke? (Not trying to offense you, I am not really sure why you posted this...)

Yeah, well, it IS sort of a doodle... but what makes you think the resolution was too big? It's never been a problem in the games I've been using sprites of this size in. At 640x400, it works just fine. And the different width of the outlines kind of belongs to this style... it looks kind of weird when I don't do this.

It's quite similar to the style of El Presidente, but there are some important differences. Compare:

Uh... no. I just doodled around and wanted to know if you people like this kind of style - a bit like the El Presidente thing with lots more details. Sorry, probably should've explained this better.

Oh... the thing about the resolution is that I am not really sure if you need 640X400 with such a "undetailed" sprite... ^_^

About the differences with "El Presidente"... you put an image and say "Compare!" But I don' t see any relevant change in the technique or something!  That' s your style, and if you like it, congrats, I think it' s quite funny and effective as well. But I don' t see any "change" with this and your previous work.

Heh, thanks. Anyway, what I mean is that this image is mainly that it's way more detailed than the one of El Presidente. First of all the hobo wears recognizable clothing (a ragged business-suit-esque thing), actually has HAIR and such. But you never know, maybe you people like the less detailed thing better!

One thing I think your sprites would benefit from is better use of colors and more uniform line styles. 

1.  Reduced thickness of body outline by 1 and changed the contrast of the darkest brown and skin tone.

2.  Made inner lines thicker and gave the S an outline.

3.  Altered face somewhat.

4.  Made hands Raymanesque for comic appeal.



If you are looking to shake up the style I think this would be a good start!

Yes, I think more contrast is needed.  A dingy green for the vest (or some other colour other than brown) will liven things up as well.  I like the thick outlines, but be consistent in how you use them
