Hi there again.

I have made my first sprite so far.
It's not good, but I can't make it betterÃ,  :'(.

So I'm asking here:
What can I make better ?

X2:

Steel Drummer

Change his skin colour for one thing, to look more human. The low-res style looks good and this sprite is a worthy first attempt. His arms seem to disappear into his clothing, also. All in all, however, it's a decent sprite.
I'm composing the music for this game:

Tiki

Could you tell us more about the sprite?  We can do a much better job of helping if we have some background information.

Babar

I like this sprite! However, the hat is too low on the right side to have a head under there. For this style of sprite it might not have mattered, but it is too noticeable.

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

Thanks for replies!

1. I hope the skin color is better now.

2. I tried to correct the arms with some shading...don't know if it helped...

3. I moved the hat to the left a bit.

4. Background ? Hmmmmm.... I don't know. Perhaps a private detective ?
Ã,  Ã,  Or Jack the Ripper ? I really don't know, it was my first atttempt, so I
Ã,  Ã,  decided to give him a coat. I like the coat sprites, I don't know why, but I
Ã,  Ã,  love them. (For example the Beneath a Steel Sky one...)

Unknown_Terror

Yea he looks alot better now
I like him, it's pretty basic and simple, but it works very well for him.
Looks alot like a Detective i would say, keep up the good work.

Buckethead

It looks like he has no hands. Maybe they are in his pockets but it's better for animation to show   his hands, I think.  :)

Oliwerko

I tried my best to make them look like they are in pockets, but it seems I didn't succeed.

Here is the version with hands, maybe it's true that this is better.

It doesn,t look bad but it could really do with some more detail.
Add some buttons to his coat i,d suggest and perhaps you could make the coat a little wider. Also, his hat look more like a cap which doesn,t really fit your detective-like sprite. Draw the hat to look more like a fedora is my suggestion. (The sort Indiana Jones wears.)
Don,t lose hope! With some patience i think this sprite can become really decent. ;)

Unknown_Terror

I would say that, while he is standing still his hands would look better in his pockets, but while moving he should show his hands.

Stupot

He looks good.
I don't think it would hurt to make him a bit bigger, though.
just about 10-15 pixels taller and 5-10 wider.
This way you'll be able to add a few more bits of detail without ruining it.
Keep it up!

Hey, thanks for replies.

I'll try to make some more details.

But:
I am still confused about the character sizes/resolutions.
There are so many high-res characters in Critics Lounge, I don't understand it. Most of the games are 320*200. But most of the chars here in Crit. Lounge are low-res. I also don't know how to choose the size for the character... Please explain this to me, because I am a bit confused  :P

Hi there!

Nice one ... I sent you a PM concerning the problem with the character's size.

See you!
