This suppose to be a spooky room inside a haunted house. It isn't done yet but I just want to know if I'm going the right way with this before I'll add more detail. I'm still stuck with the perspective, I don't get how yo all do it with that vanishing point and stuff. Anyway tell me what you think of it , plz.  ;D

I was gonna complain about the perspective, but you already mentioned it. Yes, the perspective is screwed. I don't get what's so hard about it. Just use your eyes. Look at your room and observe how the wall lines go. Or google an image showing the set-up. It can't be that difficult to understand.

You would be better off not using black outlines, as well. They kind of smudge the whole bg in your case. Just use darker shades of the fill colors as outlines or find another solution that works.

I actually kinda like it like this!
you said it was gonna be spooky and if I had been in a room like that I would find it spooky.

Though I agree on not using black outlines.

I think that perspective is pretty good.  ;D  Though the side wall stretches down to the bottom of the screen if you know what I mean. If you brink that side wall up a little it would look better.

Sorry, I couldn't think of any better ways of saying this.  ???

IT would be even better if it was correct. First of all make the boards on the floor in straight line with the wall that is the one with the door. Then raise the ceiling line. It looks as if the side waal was way below the whole room. Try using a vanishing point, you'll have to bring the side wall up from under too.

sure but how do I use a vanishing point?? I never found a tutorial about it. I'll try to make the floor some straight when I have time.

Thnx for the nice comments  ;) and if you thinking of posting in the future: thnx in advance

No.

Have you ever heard of, for example, Google?

QuoteAnyway tell me what you think of it , please. ;D
It isn't done yet.

Not exactly. I'd even say there's NO perspective.

Actually I think the lack of perspective is called "isometric". ;)

ok so what am I doing wrong then??

Google is my friend but all i seem to get is a band site and useless stuff when i fill in "vanishing point"

yes I said it isnt done yet.

of course there is a little perspective but I'm bad at it. Saying it's all useless and lack of prespective wont help me.

A lack of perspective is not an isometric.

This is isometric:

http://rhysd.syntesis.org/tutorial/

Basically isometric is when there are three dimensions, all at 60 degrees to each other. It's nothing like this piece.

As for this piece, I don't really think I can add anything that hasn't been said already

Hmm... he probably meant a perspective in Friend Indeed style, veryweird. "Parallelometric"? ;)

Haha, after reading my final sentence in that thread I have to say: Touche, sir.

I think a 2 point perspective will make this room very nice LVP; RVP

Even if it should feel spooky, correct perspective should stay correct:

I'd pick random 3D modelling software (or level editor for some FPS game) and try a bit before drawing first pixels. You get correct porportions and perspective (not to mention neat traceable material! Also, you can always move things around and scale them until you get perfect base for your 2D bg, with correct character scaling, perfect composition of stuff, etc) in only 2-3 minutes! Can't say this about photo tracing...

It doesn't need almost any knowlegde of a 3D modeller to use it as a drawing aid... at maximum, an evening of learning.

Corey

I think I'm gonna re draw it using 3d programs and maybe a vanishing point. Thanks for all the help full comments people  ;) :)

Using 3D incorporates vanishing points.
