Title: Textured Backgrounds
Post by: JRock on Sat 14/01/2006 11:46:49
This is a scene I created using several methods (real photos, paint, etc.).Ã,  Does it blend well or does the foreground seem too fake compared to the background?

it might have been workable, but at the moment the perspectives of the two bits don't match. Even if you were going for some sort of surrealistic approach, the background portion doesn't look like it's at right angles to the rest, so it doesn't go along with a "painted-wall look" either.

What an interesting idea - I like the blending of the two very different media.

However I agree with Babar that it looks wrong because the perspective is 'off' - it would work if you matched the 'camera angle' in the foreground to mimic the angle in the background (or vice versa)

I agree. Totally different perspectives. Still, you've got a real nice isometric pixel art bottom on it. 'd advise actually doing the water in the same way. From the perspective of the bottom, there's no way a city would be visible, let alone a horizon. So the bare sea will do. I'd also suggest moving the bottom higher so that the water isn't so dominant and so that you can fit more in there. And as for the pixel work, I'd suggest a cleaner style.
