Title: the long anticipated "summer paradise" background
Post by: taryuu on Fri 04/07/2003 05:18:43
hey everybody,

last time we heard from this game was when i posted three of the characters.  so here's a new background for those patient souls who remember.

don't forget, the game is in 320x200 so don't expect miracles from such a crappy artist as myself.

At least you draw trees better than me :P

One thing I would definitely do is remove the dark outline from the cloud. It brings it into the foreground and makes it look sort of like it's the size of a mattress and attached to the house.

your lines are too thick. Since this is lo-res, make them one-pixel. You may alko want to add noise.

Nice background! And yes, I especially love the tree too.
I agree on the cloud though, remove the dark outline.

Noise filters are the devil.

I thought that was Windows Media Player?

Anyhoo, it looks quite nice. I like the thick pixels, but I agree about removing the edging from the cloud. The trees are superb, especially the background ones. I don't know why you do trees so much better than other things (good though they are).

Suits the game, I just visited your site a week or so ago.

oooo nice improvements! the bg looks really cool, although I'd say it could use _some_ clouds, maybe in the distance

Wow, those changes took a pretty decent background to being a great background.  Nice cleanup job.  The house looks 100x better than it did before.  Great work!

One minor thing, maybe try improving the transition between the dirt and the grass in front, it looks a little off for some reason.

You could do wonders with a color choice change. These colors dont go well with each other. Plus you could use a lot many more colors since this isnt an EGA (CGA?) game.

But i think the perspective of the stairs beneath the door is a bit off
