Title: Time travel animation
Post by: Morgan on Fri 20/06/2003 19:27:00
The main character in my new game will travel through different periods in time. I'm pretty happy with the way this turned out but I would still like to know how to make it better.

Looks great!

So...how does he get back? I mean, if the helmet gets left behind, isn't he kinda stuck? Or does he have little remote control with him?

i've a feeling that might be the whole point of the game...
nice animation, only kinda glitch i noticed is that the back of the helmet doesn't show when the guy's going invisible, only when he's disappeared...

Boyd1981- I did notice that but I thought no one else would. I changed it so you can see the back of the helmet.

Cool. I can't find anything wrong with it.
Boyd: Dosen't his face turn grayish and transparent though?

EDIT: Oh sorry, I was looking at the fix :)

the only problem i see is that you'd have to have a white background in the game for this one..

Why? (simple question)

the character turns white as he fades out. In AGS only one colour can be transparent so the "inbetween shades" would show up against the background.

At least...I think that's what he meant...

i thought of a few ways round that need a white background problem, first is to make a big white flash of light around the character, second is to know exactly where the character is going to be standing on the background when that animation occurs, copy that area, put it on a layer behind the character in the paint proggy and him fade to that pic, it'd have to be exactly right though, otherwise it'll look stupid...

You could just make a cut scene wher the background goes all white.... to show that everything around him disappears

He doesn't need a remote. Since it's about time travel he can send himself back before he left...

What?  You can't send yourself back to the original time without someway to do it...

yeah, he'd be sending himself back, but back to like medival times or something, then how would he get back to his orginal time, or go anytime else from that point?
