Here, just to keep practicing a hand made portrait of Lara Flynn Boyle (i had her as my wallpaper and looked like a good subject)

Took me 1 and 1/2 hour then i photoshopped a bit her hair cause they were too rough.

Here's the original, i looked at the second one but tried to make her more "wild" as she looks to me in the first one..

what do you think?

I would say pretty AMAZING! by my criterias, but what do I know, I only can give feedback.

And, Is that just pencil?

is there a picture of the original girl it's based on, i cant really comment without something like that. Looks real good and i have nothing to base this on really but for the eyes down she looks a little 'manly'.

I know what you mean, i guess it's because i'm not used to draw female and i always tend to make them too manly (too squared or too muscular or both) but i'm trying to "sweeten up" my style...

I like the hair, where it parts and the wisp at the back of her neck. I can definitely see the work you put into each feature, eyes, nose and mouth, but your line is quite sharp and more angular than in the original. That's mostly what makes it seem more masculine. This can be a problem for various reasons, but the graph paper probably isn't helping. People don't always realize it, but those lines tend to be quite a distraction.

I'm not exactly a world-class artist myself, but I think it'll be alright if I just repeat the advice I've been given: you want to loosen up, sketch things in terms of the larger whole. Instead of focusing on each detail and trying to arrange them, try and see the actual shape in your mind, of the whole face, even if it is from a flat photo.

I don't know if I'm being coherent, let alone helpful. Hopefully both, but I'd settle for the latter.

Very nice. For some reason, I can't help but notice the bottom line of her nose being too angular -- you may want to round it a touch.

Very nice, though... even if I don't see any "wildness" in the original photo...
