Title: Tune. Work in progress
Post by: Ghormak on Mon 22/11/2004 00:52:46
Hello.

It's been a while since I've made any music just for fun. Most of the stuff I've made lately has been for games, but now I finally started working a bit on something that's (probably) only going to be for listening.

It's not finished, as you can tell by the topic, but I thought it would be nice with some general C&C before I continue. The tune is nothing special, just making it for fun... but still, serious comments do not hurt. Silly ones are also accepted. I can live without creepy comments though.

Here goes (http://www.agagames.com/ghormak/whatever.ogg)

Things I am aware of:
The drumming is a bit weak, but I've never been good with drums. Also the transition at around 1:01 is a bit clumsy. It's gone through a few revisions, but it's still not very good.

edit:
Awesome! I posted in the wrong forum at first!

Oh how I love the sound of the NS_KIT7. :) And is that the NS J-bass I hear?

The transition is actually fine. I'd just concentrate on the dynamics if I were you, and making sure everything is less mechanical-sounding.

Good work!

Great tune, Ghormy, really professional arrangement and powerful feeling

how incredibly n00bish to post it in the competition forum, though

Good work anyhow

Ooh, I love it. I could imagine an intro to an adventure game with this tune playing on the backgroud, even though it's not made for a game. I dig it how you always manage to make your tunes so... non-repetitive, that's something I'm always having problems with.

Yes, I really like it.

Also, I saw Eric's 'Moved' post on competitions forum first and thought "Oh dear, there we go again. Another n00b posting into a wrong forum.". Just imagine how surprised I was seeing that it was your post, heh.

That's exactly what I though :D. I thought, "man, Eric's become so uptight! poor newbie! I must see who it is!". then I come here and find Ghormak. Now I feel Erics actions were justified.

IMHO, you should increase the bass at the bridge around 1:08.  Just a subtle thing, but it could make a difference.

I really like it.  Like Pete said, this would be great for an Intro to a game.
