Just been practicing my backgrounds. Been having trouble with circles like on the hob and the clock, also the kitchen it looks bare. I cant think what there should be in a kitchen like this. Also I need help on light coming through the windows I just don't know how to make it look bright. (By the clock) It should be midday but I think it looks more like midday when its -10 outside. Any help suggestions welcome also you can paint over it ;D

What about a center island? Cabinets? A breakfast table?

Theeph

I don't know if this is in keeping with your style, or even good, but I jotted a few ideas here:

*Added gradient to outside, and cloud.
*Made low opacity light layer to appear like streaming in light from outside
*Added crazy cereal box and doohickey on clock for chuckles.

Hope this was useful :)

Other items that could go in there:

Microwave
Mixer
Cutting board
Fridge
Curtains
Backsplash
Cookie jar
Food items like the cereal box

It's good, but you need to give it a little more of a push. Be sure to post the results!

pslim

I love the colors you chose for the floor and I think this is a great start.

The only things I could add to what Penguinx and theeph said are that the countertops and counter bottoms seem to clash in color. I think it would help to desaturate the bottoms, but it might be better to just pick more complimentary colors. Also, the sink looks great but it doesn't read as well as it could because the contrast is too low, imo. If you made the different shades stand out more from one another I think it would look even better.

I originally started out trying to make the perspective a bit easier to work with, and then I just gave up and started touching up a few things and soon I had redone a bunch of things.

1.  Shaded the room manually (except for the counters).

2.  Guessed at a few shadow positions to bring out the natural light from the windows.

3.  Added some houses outside.

4.  Put in a fridge to make the room less empty.

The room still needs to be less empty but hopefully this will give you a few ideas.

Progzmax has made a very nice edit imo, with nice colours and soft elegant shading.
He's also sort of semi-addressed the general perspective issue; as the room is seen from above, we wouldn't see the sky outside, we'd see the lawn/street. The issue is still somewhat present, although it's not really a problem, more a cute little perspective play.

Penguinx: thanks for some ideas I put some junk in the shelves going to put more in soon
Theeph: thanks for the paint over Im goign to put some shading in when im finishd with filling the room up with junk but I will use your edit as a reference oh and I made the most amazing doohickey clock shame the fridge covers it up :P lol
pslim: edited some of the colours and shading
ProgZmax: That is an amazing edit! Funny that I put the fridge at the same place. I love the shading hopefully I will get that right when I finally finish the bg.
Andail: yes once I read your post I went straight to the windows to sort them out (hopefully Ive done that)

Well thanks for not telling me that I forgot to put a handle on the oven door and on the small door lol

Ooooo.... I really like the shelves with all the boxes.Ã,  :PÃ,
How 'bout some wine bottles be put into the cubby holes?
Your additions have made the background so much more alive, especially the windows.
A few critiques-
-The outside lawn looks so empty. A few pieces of lawn furniture would help. (Just a note-If you put anything on the lawn, try not to frame it in one of the window squares. It will give the scene more depth if the window overlaps it.)
-The cabinets blend into the counter too much, they are very hard to see.
-The jar on top of the fridge doesn't look to be in the proper perspective, I think making it 2 pixels wider would do the trick.
-I'm not too sure about the clock's position. I personally think it should be moved somewhere else, made smaller, or completely taken out. With the fridge edge, the jar, and the clock in the same place, it is much too cluttered.
-Is there a wall at the front of the room? Because both the calendar (against the wall) and the fridge door's position (it would swing to the center of the room) don't imply this.
-add some interesting magnets to the fridge door.
-More appliances and kitchen accessories.
I'm looking forward to seeing the progress on your background.
