Which font to use??

for a game I'm rejuvinating (or however that's spelt) which i dumped earlier, i'm not sure what font to use for the title, ingame menu buttons etc.
So, without further ado, please vote which font you think i should use.
The basic theme of the game is comedy, and it is based about gangster fish (think Grand Theft Auto meets Finding Nemo).

If it's a real gangsta game.. like San Andreas style, you should stick with a real gangsta font; Diploma,
that's the font the most gangsta's wear if they have naming tattoos..

But if it's very good for ingame menu's? I doubt that.. way too complicated for ingame.. think you should just stick with such a font for the main splash screen..

Underground... West Side is a little too girlish. I have no idea why you'd even have any of those others. The problem lies herein: to build on what DonB said, that font will probably be illegible at any but the size it is now.

I think that "rage italic" has a comedy type of feel to it, but as esper and DonB have already said it may be illegible in a smaller font.

The critics lounge is expressively and exclusively for publishing your own material.
This thread is just a poll about font-preferences, and as such it does not qualify.

If you could at least take the step to creating the actual menu/logo or whatever, you could publish a few versions and people could vote.

And no, that wouldn't be a waste of time, it would make excellent practice for you, to go through the process and see the varying results.

Next time you start a thread, show us that some efforts have been done.

i wish people wouldn't do that. people say i troll, but that's just cos i don't spend 23 of the 24 hours of a day like some AGS members seem to expect of me.

Flukeblake, I think Ildu just got carried away a bit, but I think Andail got a point in that you should make logo's first.. we can't know which size or in what context you gonna use it.. please keep us updated with the logo's, I think it's interesting to see what you make out of it..

It's not so much a "gangsta" game (Like San Andreas) as it is a "Gangster" game (Like Vice City), more civilised crime, Mafia-style.

Okay, I've made a few banners/logos.


I've also put the fonts in an In-Game text form (size 16) for objects and such.


As you can see, Empyre (#3) is illegible, as is #7 and #4.

After much consideration (about 30 seconds) i have decided to use Sylfaen as the game's title font and ingame font.

I think Sylfaen is indeed the best font for a stylish mafia game.. thought u wanted the more gangsta style..take Sylfaen indeed for classic mafia!
