It is pretty good. It might help us make comments, if we knew what kind of room it is, what kind of action takes place in there.

It seems dirty (good).
It seems dark (good), but I hope that it is intentional
It is empty (?).
The light does not have any glow (?)

Other than that it seems to me just fine, and makes me want to know more about the game you're making...

Corey

i know its a bit empty but i was just hoping you could comment on that and give some advice.
and i really dont know what to make happen in here. maybe you'll find something in the box or something like that

Well it seems just fine as it is (although as I have said before, I'm not an artist).

the only thing that seems to bother me a little bit is the resolution. I hope that the game is going to be in 640x400 or 640x480 cause otherwise it would be a shame to have beautidull 3d rendered BGs and have so poor resolution.

Anyway my only thought...

I think it looks pretty good. Giving a dark and dirty ambience, guess it was what you wanted.

Well, without knowing the actual story of your game, it's gonna be quite difficult to give you some ideas. The background as it is looks really nice, but you should probably get the story and puzzles done first and then make your backgrounds according to what is needed for the puzzles and story. Each background should have a purpose imo and it's best if that purpose is clear before the bg is actually made.
That's just my opinion of course and I'm probably wrong, but I think working the way you do increases the danger of getting some pretty boring puzzles (like I did when I tried to make my first game using the same method  ;)).
Anyway, I think you are off to a good start here. Just out of curiosity, will your game feature a third person or first person view?

Perhaps your could exaggerate your light source and accentuate the shadows. Also, it would be nice if the hues varied a little. Right now, everything is brown and it's not very interesting to look at.

Just for your information, the image tags can be used to magnifying your image without you uploading 2 versions. just use width=600 height=400 after the [ img bit.

I don't think the diagonal view across the room works very well.
Some (Italian?) guy was using renders for backgrounds, but using traditional TV-set-from-audience viewpoints. That looked much better. I don't remember his name but he posted in the CL about six months ago.
